No. You are one of the people I was talking about.
Unfortunately, I don't particularly think that applies to this instance.
If people can't take others opinions at face value (or provide more of a response than "Lol, pessimism", then that's their problem, not mine. |
But I'm not blind to anything. :wtf: I'm one of the most objective people I know and everyone around me says that. This isn't going to go anywhere, which is why I said let's just chill. |

To recap: Konami are imposing restrictions on what publications can and cannot talk about when reviewing Metal Gear Solid 4. No mention of 90-minute cutscenes please, and while you're at it, no talky-talky about install sizes either, K? IGN are cool with that. EGM, refreshingly, are not. Due to "limitations Konami wanted to impose on our comments", the editorial team decided to refrain from giving the game a score, and in lieu of a "review" posted a lengthy roundtable discussion about the game instead. It's hardly a gloved fist on an Olympic dias, but it is nice seeing somebody do something about such an...unsavoury practice. |
I was going to post the initial announcement that Konami had placed these restrictions on reviewers, but wound up deciding that the only reason they had likely implied most of the restrictions was with regard to spoilers.
I don't know whether or not that's true, it's my opinion, I do however think it's pretty ridiculous for any developer to place these kinds of demands on reviewers, and in general agree with the above that it is nice to see someone taking a stand on an issue like this.
$10 says once they do review MGS4 (on release - i.e. they'll review it when they can pay for it and not have to keep their traps shut) it will still get an 8+. |

Ummm.... that right off. How dare a company demand like that just for an early review? That's just as bad as paying them for a good review.
Any good reviewer will review it exactly how they want to on release and there's not a damn thing that they can do about it. Hence why I prefer to read reviews upon release, and not the blatantly sold out and rigged "early" ones
No doubt it's a great game but this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and wanting to silence the reviewers about the cut scene is nonsense. I know I too would want to know what to expect and that can easily be done without spoiling the game. |

You're not alone - this has definitely been an issue that has popped it's head up at a lot of gaming outlets pretty regularly in 2007-2008 (i.e. the infamous GameSpot bust).
I would just love to see the restrictions Konami was asking for in full - because I really don't know what the one that could make this such an issue would be. Of the ones discussed across the internets today, the only I can imagine is the HD install, and who gives a about that, right?
I'm just really curious as to what specifically it is that's got folks all riled up right now. |

| Probably the fact that they forgot to put in an option to skip scenes and so skipping the entire thing would require you to start all 90mins again when wanting to watch the whole thing :haha: |

| I really wish these persuaded reviews would stop, and I don't even read them. |

| I'm confident this game will kick a few asses. Sure should be something worthwhile for the PS3 library. |
