Exactly what happens here too. I call my gf to ask what time she gets off work, that's a 10 seconds call. She manages to turn it into 5 minutes by asking stuff like do we have milk, what do you wanna eat today, this and that happened. I'm like damnit woman, I'm at work too, I don't have all day.

I think its kind of cute... she wants to talk to me so she keeps talking about... everything. Kind of um flattering really. Don't bother me much, especially cuz you can just listen and say "yeah" or "yep" every so often and she's happy just talking

:stongue:

yeah, I usually space out after 30 seconds and I just randomly say 'yeah' and 'ok' at random intervals.

Again, because they need constant attention and love the sound of their own voice.

God I ing hate the tendency of women to babble on about the most inane /whatever the is on their mind at any given moment.

I love talking on the phone
It's the best substitute for not being able to be with someone.
I can't live without long distance phone cards or my cell.

When I'm dating a guy, we'll call every single night we don't see eachother before bed and talk until he or I fall asleep.
I don't think it has anything to do with attention - it's about feeling close to someone when you can't be with them.
I can't go out for coffee and shoot the with my God-sister in Poland - talking for hours on the phone is the next best thing.

PS. the "yah" and "mmm hmmm" interjections don't count as conversation :wtf: lol

Isn't most random chat... well, random? And aren't these conversations (regardless of how terapeutic they are to the babbling person :p) a way of bringing people together? If we always had to say something useful in order to talk to someone, communication would be really annoying.

I'm not talking about random chat though...I'm talking about thinking out loud.

I fail at social chit chat and fail at inter-personal chit chat as well.

When I talk I mean serious business and don't like dixing around about stupid stuff ... maybe that explains a lot of things actually :haha:

You have no idea how annoying this is, even if you're head over heels for the person you're talking to.

Because I'm not a girl, maybe I've failed to see the difference, but isn't thinking out loud a (rather clumsy) way of starting some random chat?

I think one of the most hilarious convos I've ever had on the phone began with a girl wondering whether she had had breakfast that morning :p
