Does the state of the economy prevent you from going Clubbing & Partying?

Do gas prices, mortgage crisis, rise in food prices & the simple fact that the economy is in rut right now prevent you from going out to clubs? can you afford to go out as often as you would like?

Do you feel that headlining dj's, door discounts & weekly drink specials make a difference on how often you would go out?

Would you rather spend your money at bigger events that satisfy or do you find them lacking? Most of my friends right now even feel that the even the bigger events are satisfying enough...

I ran into alot of friends this weekend at a couple venues in the bay area, and a good handful of them have let me know because of the way things are right now, I may be seeing less of them.

I hope everyones ok right now, and keepin afloat...

No BS please. Just honest answers. Theres a reason I'm asking this..

Gas prices definitely affect me driving to SF from Sac. Now it's about $40-$50 every roundtrip to the city.

For us...for sure the rise in gas has kicked our behinds...previously was manageable 70 bucks...now 120 roundtrip...and that is not including what we spend on hotel, food, liquor, club/event entrance.

Needless to say, we have been around less because of this...so we can only make it once a month...if that now :(

I hear you on this one guys, I have a SUV and gas is not my best friend right now either...

I forgot to add the definitions beside the Poll Subjects.

Price: This includes gas, food, etc that you spend on the weekends to get you to your destination.
Dj: Local or no? Would you go to an event that your friend recommended if you didnt know the music, Dj, Etc?
Venue: Clubs, Underground, Raves, Parties, special events
Length of Event: Does this hours of an event affect where you go on Fridays and Saturdays?

No. When you are smart with your finances and prepare for rainy days, this affects you very little, if at all. :)

Honest answer: I do pretty well for myself and have no problems supporting people who play music I like.

I probably come by to SF twice a month from Sunnyvale and spend around 100-200 each time at the event [excluding hotels, if I have to crash for the night]. Gas isnt too much, maybe about 20 bucks as I drive a old nissan altima with decent gas mileage and also parking is mostly free during weekend and surprisingly I have been easily able to find parking in SF.

It is one thing to park a but far away, but it really creeps me out when I am walking back to the car drunk as I see so many shady characters. usually I tend to clean out my cash at the bar so that I walk back with a 5-10 in my wallet.

I am with everyone, gas is a factor with me since i am in San Diego.

2 years ago and part of last year we would go to LA and party 3-5 times a month.

Now maybe once or twice every 2 months if that. 40+ bucks on gas in my CIVIC (NOT my gas guzzling EVO or 4runner) back and forth, + food + venue fee + drinks = too much for a broke Mexican like myself :(

As a promoter I find it doesn't effect it much. When times are tough people need a release. When you're at the club are you worried about the economy? Going out is what keeps us sane it tough times. Just make sure to leave room in your budget...oh...and carpool!

I do too, but how ed up things are right now my priorities are different.

That 100-200 bucks i blow when i party will serve me better in the long run if i invest it accordingly then going blowing it partying like how i used to.

I rather send in DOUBLE the mortgage payment then just the bare minimum mortgage payment on the complexes.

But hey, thats just me...

stay home play ps3... that's how i counter this bad economy!
