i love when ppl say it was shiiiiiit, i hated it, too proggy etc etc then they say the last set of the night was the best one

something tells me somebody got bad pills hehehe

This "bad drugs" comment that people frequently use annoys me outrageously. I was completely sober last night, yet people on drugs somehow think their opinions are just as valid as mine. News: they're ing not.

When I get on it, I don't expect to have an accurate recollection or proper opinion, and neither should anyone else. Perfect example is Above & Beyond at Godskitchen '06. Off my guts, I had the time of my life, and looking over the tracklist the following week, I was mortified to see what I'd been rocking to.

The message here is that drugs vastly decrease your standards in music.

ps. Trance Nutter, I met a bloke from Adelaide last night. (all badly paraphrased)

guy: I came all the way from Adelaide to hear JOC play "Exactly"!

me: ...are you "Trance Nutter" by any chance?

guy: yeah!

me: *massive laughs* So you're Trance Nutter from tranceaddict.com?

guy: huh? No, I thought you said am I nuts about trance. I'm not Trance Nutter.

given the flow of joc's set and your opinion that his last hour justified your payment of an overpriced rave ticket after being put through so much music you considered to be earlier on -- combined with your above comment -- indicates that you mustve been on a load of drugs

i had a good time! :D haven't been to godskitchen for a few years, it was pretty good. i err kinda squealed like a girl when i saw jpl :p sorry haha. also a bit harsh for james brookes, but he made it in the end and rocked on. i think the first time i went to buy alcohol was after it had stopped which was a bit haha.

i liked a lot of the tunes, but the thing for me was that no dj played a consistent set for me, they all changed around a bit and i guess i wasn't really rocking it the whole night to any of them. but then i've never seen any of those dj's before or really listened to their live sets so i didn't really know what to expect. i saw the last 30 to 40 mins of steve, i think he did a nice job, cruisy and melodic, including his new tune. the closest to perfection of the internationals for me was jon o'bir, he played a lot of great stuff, i think he played 'indecent noise - touchline' which is a fav of mine right now. a lot of stuff with some good acid in there, i probably enjoyed his set the most. the only thing i didn't really like was a few REALLY long breakdowns and crappy vocals :p

menno was pretty good, it was a bit hit and miss for me until carte blanche. i thought it was pretty cool playing the cosmic gate remix, stopping in the breakdown to really hype up the crowd, then playing the original mix, i loved it. from then on he was on fire i reckon. he even managed to out-jesus pose tiesto, armin and halliwell together. i was a bit over some of the showboating, especially when its not even your tune. but other than that great stuff, he really got into it, chucked a couple of shirts in the crowd which was cool. when did he play 'simon patterson - smack'?? i'm pretty sure i would have recognised that, i love it :D

i think you were at a different party nick with regards to atmosphere, the crowd response was insane for sander, i didn't realise that he and the style he plays was so popular. the crowd was pretty rocking for menno as well. i got one photo of someone with an 'angle in white party' t-shirt lol, but it didn't turn out that good. i had no issues with the crowd, people were pretty excited, a lot of them dressed up, only downsides were a couple of guys wearing all black, standing with their arms crossed, trying to show they aren't conformists or some crap. although i think it's time to ditch the white party, we should have a purple party or something next time.

sander i didn't get into that much, especially the first 45 minutes. i don't like that style but thats just me. he played some pretty banging stuff towards the end which was cool. i was a bit tired by then and went outside for a while, when i came back john o callaghan was on, he was pretty good too, but i didn't get into it a lot, probably cause i was wrecked. i liked that remix of big sky and a few more tracks towards the end, some pretty cool tunes in there.

i am starting to get worried about the 'j' word, mr bateman said i was too hard to please :p i was pretty pleased though with a lot of the stuff i heard, i guess some of this style trance doesn't do it for me as much as it used to. overall i had fun, haven't seen pana or jpl for ages so that was cool, met jaysep, i have a couple of photos that maybe ben evans wouldn't want me to post here but we'll see ;)

Set flow?

Any consideration of hearing decent set flow was completely out the door the moment I walked in. I was stoked for O'Callaghan because he was the second jock (O'Bir being the first) that actually played some decent tracks. Beggars can't be choosers, and after being ear-raped for 4 hours, O'Callghan's set was a breath of fresh air, even if it didn't have great flow.
