same here mate! despite spending the last few years considering sander the one man i would have sex with road kill to be i haven't really liked his newish stuff that much so wasn't expecting to love his set the way i did. :D |
yeah mang, for sure: i still liked sander's new stuff, i just think it's something to listen to, it's not club tracks, if you know what i mean: his new stuff's still good, but in a main room, main time slot, it struggles a bit for me...
was great that he played club-wise. dominated with the harder :D win.

I hear what you're saying bateman...scenes must move on and evolve (which is a good thing), but I went to Godskitchen to hear trance, not tech-house, techno or electro-house, which is basically what van Doorn was playing. |
if you think what sander played is electro house then tech trance doesn't exist, according to you... it's all just electro house :eyes:

| On further consideration, that's probably not the case, because I listen to plenty of new trance tracks at home, which would logically tell you I still enjoy it. |

I didn't mean it in a literal sense, I just meant music of that ilk, i.e not trance.
In my opinion, tech-trance is stuff like Marco V - False Light, Automanual, or Sander's remix of Direct Dizko. It has masses of percussion and a driving, "continuous" feel where it's hard to tell where one loop starts and ends, as opposed to the stuff that van Doorn played which was heavy on clunky, obviously repeating bass lines and light on percussion. |

sander wasn't trance (maybe first 15 mins, ergh can't remember now, can just remember liking the first 15 and hating the rest). end of discussion.
and I suppose it has to be said..
TA's very own menno team, I guess you all win. he pwnd!
edit: I think sander would have fit better into sensation hype rather than GK. since no one is going there for trance :) |

lol wtf how can anyone say sander didnt play tech-trance
yes he played a little techno and some tech-house as well but he cant just slam it out for 2 hours. i didnt hear any electro whatsoever if anyone could name an electro track he played id love to know.
seriously how can you call tracks like thump, restart, lost connection, dominator, riff, etc etc anything but techtrance?
he even played Us. if thats not trance i dont know what is.
tbh even the stuff that is a tad slower i would consider pitched down tech-trance rather than pitched up tech-house. stuff like the cafe del mar remix he played or organic.
seriously if gods was 4 sets of jon o'bir type stuff i would neck myself by the end of it. |

yes, obir played pretty much a warmup set. some really nice tunes, good way to start the night with.. :) obir does play other stuffs too though!
And all were amazed, and said: "This guy is really good! ... And the crowd went absolutely bananas. ... "He should turn professional". |

I kind of agree with both of you, but cookie if you listen to Riff, it has a very cruisy feel. The percussion is pretty minimal and clicky, with most of it centred on the first and third beats of each bar, which is a classic techno feel in my opinion.
In comparison, the tracks like I mentioned, or Marcel Woods - Advanced, or Bart Claessen - Playmo have a very upbeat, driving feel, with maximal percussion.
In my head that's the difference between tech-trance and...whatever Sander played. |
