I don't know about Kompakt being on the progressive side of Techno. Kompakt grew because of Disco music (Michael used to play at many gay disco clubs when he was a paper boy too) so there's a big disco influence.
Have both Michael Mayer and Superpitcher made melodic synth laden tracks, yes. Does it make it progressive house ? Maybe not, In my opinion. However, like all music, it depends on the listener's interpretation and so on.

agree with nefardec. sounds like prog house. if this came out back in 2000 it would be called prog house. techno from just a few years ago was 135+bpm non melodic and banging. now, we call this stuff techno and we really should not.

It's only not prog if you get really upset when people talk about prog becuase prog is no longer hip.

Every year it's the same music but for whatever reason it is people feel an intense need to relabel it in order to feel hip.
It is a vicious cycle.

When I think of progressive house i think of tone depth and sultan.
When I think of Lawrence I think of deep german techno (sometimes melodic), but still 'techno'.

i don't know that prog has ever been 'hip' in the cutting edge sense, but it's definitely been successful and will continue to be i think.
it's just a more accessible take on the raw
people are going to kill me for this, but IMO it's kind of like the difference between modern abstract expressionist art and the abstract decorative stuff you see in hotel rooms :p

I just find the fact that there were some folks who were basically "PROG, PROG, PROG!" two to four years ago now absolutely shun the term because they think they've moved on - when in reality they're all just listening to the same sounding music that just happens to have a different label.
