I'd say I've only ever called in sick once or twice. I'd say MOST people in this country rarely call in sick.
Actual sick days that is. Not excluding the day I got blind sided by a bus. (Was in the passenger seat.) |
I read some study, where I believed it said that only 1/9 sick days were actually used for sick days!
They also have this technology called Voice Risk Analyis that some firms in the UK have implemented, which is a sort of voice recognition software that can detect (or at least the description of the product says it can detect) if someone is lying about being sick or not.

I almost never call in sick, but every few months I will force myself in while I'm felling really ty and end up leaving early.
I used to call in sick about once a month just when I really didn't feel like working, or was hungover or whatever, but it's been a long time.
I've had some people work for me that seemed to miss more work than they made it in for.. They usually end up canned, but it's surprising how many times Doctors will write a note just because someone claimed to be sick. |

| If I'm not there for work, there's no one to cover me, so I don't like taking sick days unless I'm really feeling bad. I also don't like to think of the possible pile of work that would be waiting for me, so that's not an incentive either. |

At my current job, sick days get held against me at bonus time, so that's motivation to go in pretty much no matter what every day.
More incentive to take care of my health and get my zzz's. |
