Vietnam is my native country and I was just back there with my gf for all of June. I mainly stayed in South Vietnam particulary Saigon and Ca Mau. Vietnam truly is a beautiful country with lots of lush green forests and marsh areas. Crime is really low there as they have a handgun ban and most of the locals are very friendly especially to foreigners but you need to be careful with your belongings as pickpocketing and theft are big especially if they know your a tourist.

As mentioned there really isn't a big edm scene there but there are a few clubs that will play some edm but that's mainly in Saigon. I think there are about 4 or 5 big clubs in Saigon but I only had the chance to go to one. Another thing you can do there is bia om which is sort of like going to a rippers but the only difference is the girls don't dance for you but rather sit with you and your group in a private room and you can 'almost' do whatever you want with them ie. touching, groping etc.

Food wise you might have to be careful with what you eat as it could
give you stomach problems for a day or two. Generally stick with pork, chicken and fish. The beef over there is not as tender as US beef and as a result is pretty poor in quality and taste. Seafood is huge in Vietnam and generally safe and fruits and vegetable are safe to eat as well. In terms of alcohol they primarily have Heineken and tiger beer but I would recommend the Saigon Red. It's 4.9% and tastes pretty good and best of all it's cheap. A case of 20 would run you 150,000 VND which equals to about less than 10CAD. Some people drink moonshine but I would recommend against it as there have been cases where people have brewed it incorrectly and have died after drinking it.

The main form of transportation in Vietnam are motorbikes that are about 100-150cc. There are cars but most people drive these motorbikes as they are cheaper and alot easier to manuever then cars in Vietnam. If you need a quick ride somewhere they have taxi bikes (xe om) where guys would hang around on the side of the street and would take you wherever you need to go.

Language may be a problem as most of the locals only speak Vietnamese and a few do speak English but only inSaigon. My best suggestion is to make friends with a local who you can somewhat trust and they can guide you all over the city and translate things for you if needed.

are dress codes common in clubs in vietnam or are things pretty much casual

You can pretty much wear whatever you want, the ballers do get dressed up but it's not necessary.

My only issue with these Southeast Asian countries that are in warmer, more tropical climates are the abundance of disgusting, big bugs/spiders/arachnids/centipedes/etc...you can pretty much find them anywhere. Then again it could be just me, as I'm pretty petrified of those things.

Went to Ho Chin Minh, Hanoi and Halong Bay bout 3 years ago.

Had to do a business trip in Ho Chin Minh and decided to visit Halong Bay cause I really love natural sites. In terms of night life, I only saw those girly pubs and those regular night bands stuff..Didnt really travel the cities.

Anyways I'm staying in bangkok now for like another year before heading back to Melbourne so, if you wanna know anything regarding South-East Asia..
