I assume that this will be about the same time that he finally gets around to choosing a west coast moderator so we don't have to PM him every time we need something, just like he said he would do?
The whole spam problem has been tossed around for a while now, and it really seems as though there are also some other fairly important issues that he just doesn't care about. Yes, I understand that he is busy and that this site is a fairly large thing to run, but these issues have been fairly ongoing (in some cases, more than a year) which is plenty of time to have gone about solving them. However, we've seen nothing done.
I suggest getting a new administrator as opposed to moderator, someone who is able to make said necessary changes alongside Del when Del is absent or too busy. Filling this site up with moderators is not the solution. |

Not that I don't sympathize with you (I do), but you're not the first to make that point, and won't be the last.
People aren't going to leave the forums either way, at least they haven't yet, and with a decent sized community of complacent active users, there's really no incentive for an admin to do much of anything beyond ensuring the site stays up. |

I'm well aware of that. Hell, I've been saying this for a long time, just not here. Suffice it to say, the majority of the mods I've talked to about it also seem to feel the same way. Del has had a problem with me voicing my opinion about said issues in the past, so I tend to keep quiet about it now.

I'm not saying that I would be a fine choice for such an admin, but I'd be more than happy to do it for no incentive and I'm sure that there are others out there who would be willing to do the same. And you're right; as long as things remain somewhat half-decent, people will continue to post. I have a feeling that at some point in the future the apathetic attitude towards this site that Del has chosen to have will come back and bite him in the ass. |
