It might be nice, but unfortunately it isn't going to happen.
To be honest, I'm relatively surprised Del hasn't closed this thread yet. He's usually so quick to defend himself at the slightest bit of dissent that I'm astounded he's let this one go on as long as it has.
At the end of the day, so long as he has a decent sized, active population here, he really has no incentive to do anything more than he already has. It's unfortunate for the regulars, because they're the people irritated more times than not - but those of us who've stuck around regardless of the increases in spam and/or alts really only perpetuate the apathy at the top of the ladder.
:(
It's basically one big catch 22 for the regulars who've made good and/or close friends on here - either leave TA and bail on communicating with some international friends, or put up with it.
Del knows how the majority of people will choose. |

| From the communication we've had from Del the spam issue has been sorted apparently so unless there continues to be an influx of spam bot posts (which there hasn't been anything today to my knowledge) then we are all good. |

After re-reading this post I think you come across as nothing better than a spoilt child Rob. In my 7 years on this site i don't think i've ever seen Del close a thread that challenged the moderation of this site (stupid requests aside).
You are complaining that the regular posters have to "put up" with all the spam. Now having an influx for the past week or so which now seems to have been resolved is hardly a massive chore for the regulars (which is myself included) to stuggle through.
Ultimately there's not a lot Del can do to this site now as it's the content posted by the members which is the factor in whether people stick around in here or not. And as for the Alt's then they do get tracked as and when they appear but they too are probably regular posters too just may have been banned for whatever breaking of the rules they had done.
I think my point is, you're are complaining about menial issues that have no major bearing to the quality of the content of the forum other than to be a slight temporary annoyance that you can quite easily ignore. |

:stongue:
Good ing grief, do you really think what I've said is that different than what countless others have in this very thread?
:conf:
All I said is exactly what happens, and nowhere in there did I make it sound like it's some big ing hassle to have to deal with - it's just how it is, no question about it. And regular users do have to "put up" with it - this thread is plenty of evidence of it. If it wasn't a fairly regular occurrence, we wouldn't have this exact same thread popping up every few months.
Beyond that, whether or not Del has closed other threads and/or chosen to stifle discussion of this before, and specifically whether or not you've witnessed it, is largely irrelevant to this discussion.
I do, however, love it when I basically take the time to spell out just what's happening and all of a sudden I'm a spoiled child whining - where the do you, or anyone else, come off with that kind of smug ?
Get a ing grip. |

Well it was your point so you're saying your own point is largely irrelevant.

You have taken the time to spell out something that is for the most part trivial. It's a problem that has been sorted and surely that is what the moderation on a forum is for. Members say that something is happening is not to their tastes and if that's a large enough proportion of the membership then the people in charge take note of that and do something about it.
The reason you have been singled out is because you have seen the other side of it with Myra then i feel you should be a touch more sympathetic to the fact that regardless of how many mods you have at any given forum there is no way that someone (with any sense) can be monitoring every forum 24/7.
I agree with others that there was a lack of mods from the north american time zone moderating the main forums but that was somewhat changed when Myra and Jason were brought in.
After Coup left we do now have a situation where Neo who has limited time on here is left to monitor a number of lesser forums which he doesn't have time to check due to his work and life commitments and i'd agree that they probably need looking into. |

:wtf:
What in s name are you on about? How is it that by noting that:
A. Del has no incentive to do a thing around here as long as he has a community.
B. Any kind of authentication program (like Captcha) would resolve the problem.
...not sympathetic? I'm pretty sure I've basically asked for the same thing Myra and others did earlier in this thread, and I hate to speak for anyone else, but I'm fairly sure her own participation in this thread, as well as other members and mods, can pretty easily be construed as saying:

How in gods name you think I'm sitting here berating any of the rest of you is beyond me. Perhaps you can't read?
:conf:
At this point, I really have no ing clue why you chose to single me out as it seems we're basically saying the same ing thing - therein leading me to believe you're simply illiterate. |

Myself, Az & Mikey would soon sort the problems out :p |
