Indeed, though that mentality can get you in a jam real quick if you like what you try so much you don't want to stop doing it and quickly realized you can't afford to keep shooting smack and skipping work.

Hey Rob! I finally got around to listening to this. I gotta say I'm loving this, it's one of the most unique sets I've ever heard. The strings, the sax, everything is top notch.

I'll give it another listen and post a full review later.

Great work! :)

Edit:

I just realized that the cue sheet you uploaded to sendspace is wrong, I took the liberty to correct it ;)

Awesome mix. I just finished listening to it and then I started it right back up again.
Props to you and everyone who turned you on to all this music. Every track is a gem and amazing piece of music and you put it all together extremely well. Dare I say perfect? Nothing is really perfect but a set just doesn't get much better. Quite an awesome journey. Great blending of differences. Never got boring. I listened to your nefardelfreak mix and while it was also good the music wasn't my preference. But this mix. Wow...good show! Oh and Aqueous Transmission was a great ending. I think I only heard that a couple times back in the day so it stirred up interesting emotions. The whole mix is emotional. Again...good job.

Bah! You humble me! To be honest, if I could go back and mix it again - I might. There are a few things that sound a bit like nails on a chalkboard to me at this point - but meh, I do think this was the best I could pull off at the time, and I'm generally pretty happy with it, so to see the response it's gotten has warmed my heart.

:)

Thanks for all the kinds words, everyone - and to those of you just getting in now, I hope you dig it.

I spent no less than 6 hours a day (sometimes more) for about 5 days (with maybe a day break in there - unemployment is nice like that) working on this mix from beginning to end, it was absurd, and I'm still always thinking of how it could have been better for next time.

I am an absolute basket case when it comes to this . It's ridiculous and probably fairly sad to anyone watching me go through it, hence the massive thanks to Myra in the first post :p

Perfectionism is quality I admire. I annoy the out of people with like that too. :o

Kudos to you, if only everyone put this much effort into their music ;)

Srsly.

I've listened to this mix no less than 10 times, and it hasn't tired a single bit, it is definately my favourite mix of yours to date. The flow is perfect, the tracks are brilliant and the transitions are faultless.

Only problem with this mix is how the hell do you follow it up? :p

With a long, long, long wait for the next one. :p

Long enough for people to forget about this... ;)

In all seriousness - thank you guys, but it's definitely more praise than I'm due. I like doing this stuff - if I didn't, I wouldn't do it.

I don't think I'm the best at it, sometimes I think I fail pretty hard, but I absolutely love doing it - far more than I event enjoy playing a fair number of the gigs I have. I don't know - I guess it's just that the two (playing a one off, live set out or on the radio, and working hard to construct a well formed promotional mix) are such different experiences for me, each with their own reward.

Regardless, I guess the best way I can put all of this is that I don't think GU or EQ Grey are ever going to come along and say "Would you do a mixed compilation for us?", so making these is about as close as I can get to putting something like Balance 008 (I love that Desyn just got ed up and rocked the decks for a few days) or GU 009 together.

Make no mistake, I'm not placing myself in league with Desyn or Sasha - I just like to imagine that if I were asked to do a project like those, I try to apply the mindset I think I'd use doing that, to a promo.

Though maybe all this rambling is a bit too obvious. Feel free to mock it. :p
