All cultures have some form of kebabs... no doubt. But "shashlik" is an Uzbek word (Tashkent used to be "Shashkent" long ago), and I think Russians took plov to Russia from Uzbekistan a while back too. So yeah they have them in Russia in their own way, but I believe their origins are from Uzbekistan |

Plov, aka Pilaf, is a Persian originated dish, as are kababs. ;) |
