| I think this whole thing just speaks volumes about how much McCain DIDN'T know about the woman he'd only met once back in February. Just goes to show, when you are a 72 year old "shoot from the hip" maverick, you're bound to make mistakes. At least we know everything we need to know about McCain's judgment well before putting him within reach of the nuclear launch codes. |

Umm, doesn't the Christian Right believe in abstinence only programs?
You want to talk about "responsibility"? How does a 17 year old female know anything about true responsibility of what it takes on the emotional, psychological, time-consuming, financial level to raise a new life into this world? The capacity of maturity is overwhelming at any age for this girl and the father, let alone at 17.
The argument of this girl possibly having an intent to have a baby out of wedlock is absurd, not just because it flies in the face of the abstinence until marriage Christian values (that is where so much of our tax dollars are being spent on, right? Those darn "Abstinence Only" programs?), but it flies in the face of the unlikelihood of the vast majority of females actually wanting to hold such an enormous responsibility at such a young age. If you can supply anything that supports your supposition that she actually wanted this baby out of wedlock, and that this is somehow a normative viewpoint for 17 year old females, I'm all ears.
Added in Edit: The fact that you're attempting to spin this news into a positive is hilarious at best. In all honesty, I don't give a rat's ass about Palin's kids and their private lives too much. But since it both flies in the face of their "Christian values" (i.e. against abstinence), and since you're spinning this as wonderful news, I'm all for bringing this out. Terrific!
P.S.: I'm ready to have a debate on your terms of no profanity whenever you are, Latin. Just let me know and we'll start a thread together. |

are you asking to get inside the head of a seventeen year old girl you've never met before? or just seventeen year old girls in general?
because i'll warn you it's a futile exercise either way.
there could have been a dozen reasons why this girl got preggers and you could disect those reasons pschologically all day but in the end, the most important reason why she got preggers was not because of or in spite of her religious values, it's because she's human. a human 17 year old female. she's human above everything else and even a devout Christian is humbled by that fact. |

That's not the issue - the issue is that the McCain campaign didn't even know this about his running mate before he named her - it shows he didn't even vet her. The pick was made as an appeal to values voters... and this is just the kind of thing that pisses them off. |

Let me get this straight, first liberal blogs (e.g. DailyKOs, Digg) begin circulating "facts" that Trig, the baby with down-syndrome, is actually Sarah's daughter, Bristol's. They lay out detailed evidence and ignored
recent photographs of Sarah being pregnant such as the one below.
Turns out Sarah has come forward and said her daughter is 5 months pregnant. Her son is 4 months old. You do the math.
Now liberals are spinning this to a discussion around abstinence right after they were proven wrong. (although yet to admit it via blog postings)
My question is: Is it really in the best interest of democrats to begin using babies as an election issue? Do they know what type of disruption this might create? Keep in mind, Obama's white mother was an unwed teenager as well. |
