Obama gets brownie points from me for releasing this statement:
"And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired."

Its not all that surprising. Despite the blogs, amplifying this issue wouldn't help Obama's campaign. First it goes against his message of no-distractions and family off limits. The conservative right is in love with Palin and they are giving them the benefit of the doubt. If there is any perception the issue is being used as ammunition, it will turn Sarah and her daughter into sympathetic victims. |

Agreed, but a devout Christian is supposed to follow rules and guidelines that transcend this world and our culture's morals. They are many decent guidelines of Christianity, to be certain. But the contradiction of how those guidelines seemingly get followed at times while wholly ignored at other times never continues to amaze me. Of course she's 17, and the mind of a 17 year old has yet to mature to understand the depth of so many consequences of their actions (right, Latin?). With all that said, the simple fact remains that the Palin family appears to adhere strongly to those fundamentalist Religious Right/Social Conservative values of abstinence-only before marriage, yet here we have a slight contradiction of that philosophy landing right into their laps
|
True in theory, but I don't know of one devout christian that follows all of the rules all of the time... just part of being human. The contradiction in that philosophy is on the daughter, IF she actually followed what her parents taught her. My parents are pretty strict catholic and brought me up that way, and I went through the motions because when you're living under your parents' roof, you have to go along to get along. I definitely did not ahdere to that foolishness in practice... and that's not a reflection on my parents, I just went a different way. I think it's a non issue, unless her parents pressed her to get an abortion or do something contradictory to the standard they've been practicing. On a side note, it will be weird for that baby when it gets older, and is pretty much the same age as Palin's son....lol. Imagine having a son and a grandson that were the same age. |

i.e. it's up to that individual, and really doesn't matter what they decide to do after presented with the fact that he or she was probably wrong.
But to somehow insinuate that one individual's diary is one and the same with a website host or an entire political party is kind of crazy. |
apparently the clown who started it all, works for newsweek.
Obama's statement is admirable but above and beyond would be to push to have this idiot to get fired from newsweek. |

| Why? If he's a journalist, it's his job to ask questions. It's not like this was a story that wasn't easily proven false. |

1. that's not journalism 2. he stated it as facts, not questions
Several MSM networks came forward today and condemned that hit piece. Will you? |

I don't think you know what a hit piece is. |

okay. I don't. Now that we have that out of the way, are you going to condemn the DailyKOs "blogger's" (from newsweek) "journal entry"?
Aren't you the same one who didn't believe that was Don Fowler in the youtube video? and still refuses to believe it was him even after he came forward the next day and publicly apologized for saying the statement "God's on our side (democrats)".
A noticeable trend... |

Regarding your youtube video: Nope, that wasn't me. Sorry to buck your trend.
And I'm not going to "condemn" anyone who posts something on their diary. Sorry, I believe in freedom of speech. If you were to post on your diary "Obama is a Muslim", I would laugh at you, but I would not "condemn" you - what the hell does that even mean? I don't know this person, and they have no bearing on my life or opinions - yet I'm supposed to "condemn" their independent thought process? I don't know why you have your panties in a twist about this. |

Okay, I just checked and it was Krypton. I don't have my panties in a twist.
FYI- It's a simple question I sometimes ask to discern people's views/stance.
Again, not all Obama's lemmings will follow his public statement made this afternoon. |

| Well I guess that means we're not all "lemmings" then. |
