Maybe this is where different tastes come into play, alot of the stuff you may consider to be ok / good, I may consider to be crap. Im affraid you are not going to be able to sell it to me, there is more crap about these days than in the past as far as I am concerned. |
you sound old! my parents used to say the same thing about music in the 90's ie nirvana/radiohead/metallica but they are now known as breakthrough artists who defined a whole genre of music and a whole period of music and im guessing the same will be said about artists in the 2000's. i have to say i dont like many rock bands of the 2000's but ask any 16-20 yo and they will be just as passionate about their favourite artists as we were about our favourite artists in our teens. music in general imo is pretty stale... rock is 40+ years old and seems to only rehash the past.
trance is bound to have gone stale as its been around nearly 20 years now using the same time signature/format. tracks that excited me in the 90's like dreams by quench still stand the test of time because it was an exciting new genre and are still getting remixed by many producers today but like rock music it is getting old and people have stopped coming up with new ideas and just using the past as a reference into writing tracks. i guess tho to a 17yo who has been brought up on cheesy manufactured pop music and suddenly hearing there first underground trance song it can still raise the level of excitement that i had in the 90's when hearing my first trance song. |

| I think you may be right! a) im getting older! lol and b) I think you tend to be more passionate about music between the ages of 17 - 25 ish. You tend to find people are most passionate about the music that was around when they where that age. |

your right about being more passionate about music when ur about that age group though i used to go to a lot of hardcore/happy hardcore raves when i was 17-21 and i like to keep that quiet and forget about it these days haha |

| There are plenty of young producers out there, there are plenty who have amazing songs, there are plenty who are just willing to learn... you would think the internet age makes all that easier. But it really doesn't, getting noticed has become much harder when there is a horde in front of you all craving the same, and some of those have some type of connection. |

I too used to be into my hardcore, but it kind of went a bit pair shaped around the "Toy Town" time imo. |
