the current 'state of trance'

Is armin to blame? Its gone from memorably euphoric to bass guitar cheesy vocal. I remember the under ASOT100 days anticipating each week's broadcast, but that died away as soon as 'making a tune that armin would play' became the usual sport amonsgt producers... Cookie shaped cutters. Since ASOT's downgrade (and you know what I fu*#in mean!) trance seemed to lose its lustor and originality. Producers are scared. Labels are scared. Why?

Lately, my cousins, friends, and all sorts of other unassuming trance fans started getting into asot. When you notice a trend like this, it definitely means trance has become commercial enough to appeal to them.

My question to you: is Armin, being the #1 dj and source of trance, mostly responsible for todays horrible state of trance?

And in no way am I an armin basher. My favorite cd is Boundaries of Imagination

Has it ever occurred to you that in the intervening you have changed much more than Trance has?

If ASOT went monthly I would listen to it, In fact if most shows went monthly I would listen to them, but the fact is there is just not enough quality out there to keep churning out 2 hour shows every week...

yes it has occured to me, and if they are producing otherwise, they're probably drowned out

imagine if PepsiCo moved from tin cans to a real green and enviro-friendly can. all the companies related to the industry from top to bottom would probably adopt this can as it has become the new standard. armin does have a tremendous pull on the trance industry!

Yes there is, it's just that Armin doesn't play good music.

True. I usually try to blast through every episode as fast as I can before it gets taken off DI's onDemand feature (which is awesome, by the way), and you every month yields about a shows-worth of quality.

He never seems short on material, but it's always week after week forgettable tracks, at best.

Armin who?

Funny, two years ago this thread would have been 10 pages long already.

Seems like noone cares anymore.
