I may not like a lot of what he's done as a DJ, and I may not even pay much attention to the likes of guys like Sasha or Oakenfold anymore, but to deny their influence on me, or to say that I can't go back and feel exactly the same today as I did when I first heard my favorites from them would be absurd.

Though I will say I still think at least a handful of MWTA's would argue that I succumbed to hipster-douchbagginess years ago :p

that was nice to read. thanks.

It's something that happens to me, but every so often I tell myself to take it easy. ;)

The current "trance scene" just makes it so easy.

Lucky for me, a lot of my early trance influences are people hardly anyone has heard of, because I got a lot of my introduction through the old mp3.com and such (back when they used to be awesome and have craploads of free full tracks all day long). I sometimes wonder what ever happened to t r a n c e [] c o n t r o l , Mckey Traxx, Mind Reflection, Digital Explosion, etc. whereas most people would stare at me with a :wtf: face if I mentioned those names. (Then I moved on to TA and started listening to music by Echano/Luke Terry/Al Azar/etc. Only then did I discover who the "big names" were.)

This thread is making me want to go back and figure out how I ever considered myself a trance fan. "Trance" has become such a dirty word, and I want to try to get out of that mindset. I'm the kind of person that accepts good music as good music, and I've pushed trance away as of late. I bet some of these suggestions would help me do just that.

people change. if they didn't, there'd be a problem.

sad thing is, its worse up here in Mil-town.

Trance is like AIDS or something.

but you know, I contracted da trance in da pants some time ago, so I guess im doomed?

At least I like electro, I can mix up my set with it and push the trance subliminally.

I don't mind change... I just want to make sure that if I don't like something, it's because I don't like it...not because I feel like "I shouldn't like this kind of stuff anymore."

Of course, any time. If there's one thing I hope anyone I meet, whether intrawebz or real life, realizes about me is that beyond being opinionated and stubborn, I have an excessive and sometimes unhealthy obsession with music.

One of my favorite parts about TA, and specifically MWTA, is that pretty much everyone else is too. It may lead to the bulk of the disagreements folks have here, but more often than not it's just nice to be surrounded by anyone who's excited about music.
