It's really funny, because Digweed is probably the only 'big' name DJ who can get away with lack of crowd interaction.
Any other DJ, you expect to see some sort of crowd interaction. Digweed looks at a crowd going absolute bonkers and he'd be like, whatever. lol |
Oldschool PvD. Looking for a vid online showing him @ Ultra in 2001...amazing amazing and the entire time, no smile except for a bit at the end. |

Agreed that most other DJs can't get away with this, but it would be good to see some more interaction from Digweed. I was fortunate enough to see him in a small venue in Miami with Sasha (boat cruise), and he was much more interactive...that was refreshing.
Crowd interaction is an essential part of the show for me...part of the reason why I hate DJs playing off a computer: there is too much info on the screen to focus on, and the "knobs and buttons" are tiny icons which require focusing your eyes continuously on the screen and not looking at the crowd. The tactile feel of the mixing board and CDJs/turntables allows you to look at the audience while mixing/adjusting....and allow for more interaction with audience IMO.
Diggers uses CDJs...yet he still stares down LOL...the irony is he is one of the DJs who's performance would NOT suffer from using a computer, yet he still uses CDJs.... |

Agreed.. But quite honestly, I dont care what the DJ is doing in the booth, as long as the tunes have me grooving! |

People like you (and me!) are slowly becoming more minority as DJs become more entertainers than DJs due to crowd expectation.
Why else would Aoki keep getting gigs. lol (And to lesser degree, Mark EG, Halliwell, Second Sun, etc) |

i personally don't give a flying crap if the DJ looks up at the crowd and fist pumps and all night long. It's just an added bonus to their set in my opinion.
It's all about the music they mix together and how much my feet move. |

Ah so a dj who's an entertainer in how they act while playing, cool. For me and a lot of people it's not a huge deal. |
