Kris invented a new dance, its called "the excuse me" and will be all the new fad before you know it.

dude, I don't see you in two years, and then outta nowhere, BAM! twice in two months, crazy.

I'll post my full review later, or just take Intangible's review, mention that I actually liked Fortier, I got Digz autograph (another for the collection), nice seeing everybody, especially RJ, Margs, Rachel, etc...

Digweed was bonkers! BUT the GUV crowd is too much for me nowadays...

You're calling me a noob and you've been around here since February of 2008? How rich of you, you plebeian. Get off your ing high horse. I don't post on here a lot - so much so (or rather so little) my last handle was purged.

Anyway, if you really want to check out my credibility and knowledge, I'll direct you to Googling my name.

The facts are this: Chris was having tech issues. Whether you guys like it or not, this affects the outcome of your set as a DJ (I'm guessing those arguing don't DJ). Diggers' management specifically hand-picks DJs they know and tell them to keep it at a certain pace before he comes on. It's in the contracts they sign with the venues he plays and the DJs who play before him are hand-picked. This only makes sense.

So while you may not of like Chris' set (I didn't think it was too bad), he did his job according to what was given to him.

PS - the last time I was in the Guv DJ booth, Mark Oliver had had custom-machined metal caps to put on the spindles of the 1200s so they wouldn't skip.

If things are still set up that way, I'm guessing Chris probably didn't have access to those. Extreme bass in a poorly laid out DJ booth can cause nightmares with skipping - and with the way the Guv are constantly swapping things in and out, the environment can change rapidly.

the only thing i notice from some of the "vet" reviews is that john digweed didnt have enough epic breakdowns in his set. times change, he dont play dat no mo.

agreed :) one of the few reasons I came out!

I had a blast. Ali and I went with no expectations bc it was in the Guv but Diggers was amazing. His set started of with some groovy prog beats and by 4:45am he was STR8 UP bangin prog but there was still something missing from his set hmmmmm.....

Diggers is good BUT I can't wait to see my favourite out of the two on Nov 6th in MTL!!!    :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: for some crazy minding tunage1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great seeing everyone :)

So I ended my review with a simple wow…however, now that I have rested, I wanted to elaborate a little bit more to justify my reasons for being wow’d.

First. I did not enjoy Chris Fortier. Lack of flow to his set, and just wasn't getting it. I expected John to come on at two, glad he started half an hour earlier. Mark Oliver followed Digweed, keeping that momentum alive. Wish I could have stayed a little longer for the closing, but I was beat.

But I came into this party, for one reason, to see Digweed again. I actually wanted to see him play the main room, and work the atmosphere within those four walls. Sure I saw him in the Kool Haus in April, but Saturday night, to me, was just on a whole new level. I do agree that Digweed builds it up big and drops in low, but this is what I have learned to expect from him lately and this is what I want to hear. Digweed to me, is a storyteller…and a good story has your high points and your low points, good open and a perfect close, leaving you wanting more. This is how I have always felt about his style, from the first time I saw him, and this is why I came to see him play again. He plays out like slow churning water in the ocean, then, like a high wave crashing into you on the beach, and sucking you back in to the water.

I expected dark rolling chugging beats, I got them.
I expected deep heavy bass drops, I got them.
I left this party wanting to hear more.
Perfect story.

As for the vibe of the room, it went off in there on numerous occasions. Sure there is your regular weekly “Guvernment characters”, but that is always expected. I tend to just avoid and carry on with my night. Who are they to me? Nobody. Just another person in the crowd. They have little affect when I’m there to hear the tunes I wanna here and dance my ass off. I was glued to the dance floor for almost the entire four hours John was playing. What’s around me, meh, I've got my space…I’ll dance. If that spot isn’t working, I’ll move on.

Numerous times throughout Digweed’s set, I had to stop, look up and just say “Woah. What was that?”

If it weren’t for Sasha return in November, I could probably say I didn't want to go back to the Guvy this year, as this would have been a perfect last visit to the club for 2008.

:D
