Armin is nowhere as nearly popular as Tiesto. I also doubt he can carry a venue that size on his own, people just aren't that fanatical about him. With the economy the way it is, people will want value for money if they are going to fork out for high ticket prices. That means Djs that are popular in Socal, not just Armin and the DJs he chooses to make him look good. Give me value for money and I will buy a ticket. But I will not go to Armin Only. No way.

| now what if it was armin only with opening sets by markus, rank1, menno, etc? So basically have them open up, have armin do a 4 hour set, and have others with armin come in as well like singers and keyboards? That is a proper armin only - where you have a shorter armin set, but have other artists there to support and fill the venue up. |

| I'd say let Armin do his AO event later, sometimes around February or April 2009. Forget NYE event... |

Sometimes the singers and live keyboards get a lil too carried away imo. I say Armin brings Aly & Fila, DJ Shah, and Sied Van Riel or something to open the night!!! That would be one hell of a New Years. Could you imagine all them at one venue?? WOW!! |

ok ok ok ok got an idea Giant should rent out the whole santa monica pier and the surrounding beach and throw an all night party right on the beach and have dj Shah do a sunrise set in the morning now thats will be epic.. OK I think I am day dreaming. |

There was some art festival at the pier this summer called Glow, where they had a dj spinning on the pier... made me think it would be a pretty slick venue. |

i think i'll skip tao if its an armin only night, don't think i could take all that live stuff. plus too many djs playing the same sound. what i like about shows like nocturnal is they have lots of music to choose from. only one dj like armin and his djs from his label is def not exciting to me.
what i'd want to hear on my ny is some hard trance, gimme chris lawrence or john fleming and i'm there in a second. plus mix it up with some old school breaks, even better. |

I'm with you mate.
TAO are smart operators and there's no way they would put all their eggs in one dj's basket on a night as big as NY.
They would do okay because it's NY and all the hardcore kids are gonna show up no matter who they put on the bill. But they'd lose a lot of people who don't like the idea of "Armin Only", and their profit margin would go with them.
Better off doing Armin Only on a different night next year. |

Interesting opinions.
Armin... hmm. His "armin only" shows are just a cheesy version of the tiesto in concert or elements of life and is not even close to being as solid as what tijs and his team have done. But armin is a cool guy and can play some epic sets when he wants to.
The one thing you all have to remember, it is NYE. Besides halloween this is the biggest night for people to party in the world. Most just want to party and get ed up. Armins name is second to tiesto in terms of popularity. So i expect if they do it it will be packed if its a decent price and promoted properly.
Remember what happened last year or giant? NO ONE was in the second or thrid tents. People just wanted to see tiesto and they had to shut down the main tent for 20 minutes because it was over capacity. So to those who say a more diverse lineup will work, not really when you are talking about armin or tiesto.
Either way it is the LA sports arena, so you will have other stages.
I think everyone will be happy.
Ps: Summer 2009, Colisium and Tiesto Finally meet. Huge annoucement oon. EDC possibly??
