again, it's all about the engineering. Bike paths are essential, it's our future and it's what you're seeing in most cities today.
For the city to give away all that parking revenue, the argument has to be compelling for having bikes on the road, and it is, imo.
It just has to be done right.
Don't be surprised to see a proliferation of bike paths and condos in most city cores. |

I will turn a blind eye on you insulting me, because you are obviously ignorant about this issue.
Here's for your general culture, ready friend: |
the article you posted has little or nothing to do with this city of 3 million, most of the drivers dont follow any ing rules and im sure less policing would only mean more ed up (think they drive bad here? go to lima peru, 12 million people, all crazy as in a car)
lets be realistic
...
if anything the thing i like most about the bike paths is that they are generally well paved, as i am on my skateboard not a bike.
skateboards have gotten the shaft over the years as it is technically illegal on both roads and sidewalks... the bike path is the only truly legal place to skate around mtl. |

| You're missing the point, i'm not saying we should remove all signs, but if we keep "segregating" the road and adding more rules, people will drive more and more like sheep and not be aware of others around them which is really dangerous to espcially cyclists and pedestrians. |

the one point Malek made that I agree with is that some cyclists are idiots on the road. I see it everyday, I bike/bus/walk to work because I work downtown and wouldn't pay for parking there anyways.
I've seen a few go thru red lights, ride on sidewalks, hog the driving lane, etc. But most are obedient.. same could be said for many drivers too.
Downtown is being catered to cyclists, mass transit peeps, pedestrians, with drivers slowly being phased out (or at least less prioritized).
It's just an adjustment phase for now.. meshing cyclists with drivers will be contentious in the beginning. Give it some time. |

and im saying your point is not valid
:gsmile:
bike paths allow hundreds more bikers to easily be on the streets without bothering cards
sure in suburban areas your ideas might work, but downtown the volume is just too high |
