nascar racing is fun for the drivers, there is some strategy implied in that type of racing, and its perfect for the targeted market:
isnt too complicated, oval circuits that maximizes the speed and they cant downshift,only relying on breaks which is insane at the speed they're going, even with ceramic breaks,thats just nuts. So at the end, the potential for spectacular accidents is great, they're cars are huge, so a lot of pieces fly away,and you got 132423536345 cars running at the same time, so just one can have a domino effect. Sometimes i feel its watched just for the accidents. 200+ laps of cars going in circles, i dont personally see the excitement in that,and it has to be hard on the drivers. the potential "racing excitement" comes at the last 30-25 laps i'D say,when there's actually a race going on...but in circles...
How can you seduce a market that its main leader in racing consist in cars driving in circles?!The only way possible is if its create a huge circus around there event...well basically like here in montreal. Then maybe,just maybe, they might see the interest and beauty in driving in a complex circuit, the skills and talent it requires...hahaha who am i kidding, make paris hilton,britney spears and some other celebrities drop in, you'll have something.
oh and there studying the possibility of Qc goverment injecting some money, in exchange of some "return for tax payers" |

F1 teams working to reinstate Canada
Although there are suspicions that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone could be using the Canadian GP situation to improve the financial terms of holding the event, both from the promoters and the teams, there is genuine concern in the paddock about the impact of losing the race from the schedule.
Honda Racing CEO Nick Fry told autosport.com: "I don't think it is a short-term problem, but it is a problem that does need to be addressed. We are a global series and not to be performing in one of the major continents is a serious problem - even more so because it is a continent that is very important for the motor manufacturers who are involved in F1.
"We need to look at the north American continent situation from a more strategic point of view and work out how we increase our popularity. I don't think you can just look at one race – you have to look at the whole situation there and put together a package which increases our appeal in North America. Then, the financial problems we have appearing at just one race in the continent, will go away."
BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen added: "I haven't got any explanation of the decision and how it came about, so I think we will discuss it."
The decision to drop Canada and hand its June 7 date to Turkey was prompted by the teams' desire to have a summer break inserted into next year's calendar.
It is understood that one solution being looked at now is for Canada to return to its original date, and the Turkey event to then switch to early August, just one week after the Hungarian GP.

I'm sorry for being so optimistic, I have lost faith in the administration of this city, province and country.
A mere 6m$ a year is the price to pay to send Montreal to a full anonymousity, that's it Montreal = Big moncton. |

sometimes you really do talk some ...
im no nascar enthusiast but to make that comparison just proves you dont know much about nascar and its rules and regulations.
if anything nascar is a much easier to relate to sport than f1, which is so extravagant and most of its fanbase so snobby it makes me want to vomit.
don't on nascar when you dont know much about the spot

This way we risk to transform an F1 car into a GP2 car, and that must not happen. |
