At the end of the day, Montreal was the only F1 remaining managed and promoted by a private person (Legault), I tip my hat to him for managing and running this all these years without asking any money from the govts.
The rest of the grand prix around the world are just big governmental sponsorized events, making them more into a PR stunt for their respective country than a for profit enterprise.
When others are there NOT to make any money, how are you supposed to compete with that?
Our only hope is that the provincial and city govt take the lead and create a non-profit corporation to run this and inject around 40-50m$ a year, indexed at 10% yearly as per FIA contracts.... 50m$, 55$, 61m$, 67m$... |
