sista and yes. i got into my first choice undergrad school, my first choice grad internship and first choice employer after graduating through working my connections. internet sucks for jobs and whatnot. you can't leave it up to anything else put dealing directly with people. |

While it is who you know, and not so much what you know, you can't be a total ing idiot either. Of which there are plenty of.
Also, while the internet is a powerful tool, it can never replace face to face contact with a prospective employer. But more importantly, you CAN get further if you make the right connections via the internet than you can in meeting people every day. You can appeal to a wider audience, whether it be in your field or not and create more potential opportunities than without it. Although that is by no means any reason to give up physical contact.

| Since some of you are telling, "It's really who you know." Well, I sent an email straight to the person who would interview me, attached with my cover letter, and resume. I'm going to call this person on Thursday if I don't get any response. |

Call them today. Talk to them about the status and ask when they were planning on doing interviews. This will show you are ambitious. Try to appear charismatic too. |
