| I've never really understood the intense hate that some folks seem to feel towards Joel and I don't believe that I ever will. Maybe people would be a little more chilled out if they didn't take everything he says so seriously and realized that he is one sarcastic guy. It's no biggie though since the bitching doesn't seem to affect him that much, if at all. From spinning records in his basement to being one of the most popular and sought after EDM producers in the world today, you have to give the guy the credit that he is due. I'd give almost anything to have his talent. But I think I've expressed these sentiments before and, so, there is no need to be anymore redundant. Joel has made some of the best music I have ever heard and he's been quite friendly towards me the few times I've hung out with him/seen him spin and, so, I am--and will continue to be--a huge fan of his. |

I don't like or dislike him...I just think he needs to learn to act professionally. He should enjoy his success but he has basically badmouthed everyone who makes him a success including DJs, fans, people on TA and other producers....it just shows how immature he is. |

To be honest, I don't care about the personal lives of DJs or what they say, I just care about the quality of their music, and I have just been loving his productions and my circle of fam and friends that enjoy the occasional EDM always compliment the Deadmau5 tracks that I recommend to them. It's awesome quality. This is obviously coming from a n00b in terms of HOW tracks are produced (I could never comment on the technology involved and the scale of difficulty, etc. but I know I've been listening to and dancing to EDM long enough to recognize what a club anthem is, and this guy puts out tons of them, which is why DJs play him. DJs don't have to know a producer to play his stuff; Gareth Emery recently commented on how he doesn't know Joel but how much he respects the quality of Joel's music.
Anyway, as far as I'm concerned this was the work of spin doctor, and the law of supply and demand will take care of this; keep up the awesome work Joel and keep spinning bombs and nature will take care of the rest!
I wish I could say that any press is good press, but because EDM is not as mainstream as Hollywood, having widespread negative press on EDM forums could possibly affect people's opinions, but as long as Tiesto, AVB, Menno, Gareth, A&B and others keep playing his stuff (hopefully they will) people will forget about this interview. |
