wtf are you supposed to do when you to the movies and the only spot available is the damn disabled spot?!

Oh dear, lol. Did it ever occur to you to ask why the damn disabled spot was still available when no other spaces were? Or did you just assume that you were the first and only person to enter the parking lot during those circumstances?

I stopped infront of the pita factory here in university plaza in waterloo to pick up a pita. I parked in disabled parking cuz there were no other places, I came out litteraly 2 minutes later, and some fagget is writing me a ticket. He was waiting there like a vulture.

However, I understood what I was doing was against the bylaw, and was fully prepared to pay the 20 dollar fine. But bamm! f#@kin $300 ticket comes in the mail.

So my point is; how do I get out of it?

yea thats bull.....just come up with a damn good lie and go to court and fight it....i've lied to the justice of the peace way to many times to count.....or just say your a student and you cant afford it and they'll prbly drop it down a hundred.....

a little off topic but you know what is the stupidest parking ticket ever????

the one where you can't park on the street overnight, even residential streets. now in the wintertime i understand, snow removal, but come one, in the middle of the summer??? blatend 30 dollar money grab. what if somebody went to a house party, the driveway was full and they to park on the street? now what if that same guy had a bit too much to drink and had to crash overnight, the guy is going to get slammed with a 30 dollar fee. some parking tickets i agree with fire route, blocking someone's driveway ect, ect. but damn this particular bylaw has cheated me out of about 500 bones.

ps i am that guy from the story

how about the one where you touch the sidewalk with your tire by 1 cm and you get a $30 ticket for obstructing the sidewalk.

I got the one you're talking about the next day because my mom moved my car from the driveway onto to the street in the morning at 6am and i was sleeping, when i got ready for work at 10am the ticket was on the windshield for parking longer than 3h and that's beside my house.

You have gotten off easier if it was an Expectant Mothers Parking spot.

Gottn off completely actually... there's no bylaw anywhere against these spaces. It's just for courtesy's sake by the shop owner, and no one else. You can not get a ticket in these. I park in the pink expectant mothers spots all the time when the parking lot at Home Depot is almost full. It's a man's store FFS.

What I am curious, is how did you get the ticket in the mail?

You saw him write the ticket. Didn't he give it to you? Why did it come in the mail? From your sequence of events... it seems like you ignored it, and was found guilty already in absentia. So based on what you wrote, you're screwed, and can't get out of it. Suck it up.

Ok, now some advice from experience... In Ontario, the parking enforcement officer must either a) physically hand you the ticket, or b) secure the ticket on your vehicle. If either of the above have not been done, your 'ticket' will be thrown out in court.

>>> If you see a parking enforcement office writing you a ticket, get inside your vehicle and drive away before he can finish his ticket. If he can't hand you the ticket, you will not be fined.
This is perfectly legal. I have personally done this on 2 occasions, and never got a ticket. (not in a disabled spot, mind you)

Pretty keen...

What happened was he was writing the ticket, I got in and drove off. He tried to tap on the glass with his pen as I was going into gear. He didn't attach the ticket (didn't have time, I was in and out like 2 minutes like I said)

Hey btw, you're sure about what you mentioned above? I'm definitely doing that.

I echo you...However, I had quite those tickets( ashamed to mention number) in Toronto this summer, since I had to visit girls' houses....but I knew what would happen when I park...Parking is a good business for city of toronto and damn bastards in downtown...
