You know, "Civilian National Security Force" does not necessarily mean that once Obama is in office, he will start directing tax money to the "CNSF". Why is everyone assuming it's going to be some new federal military department? He could have truly meant that already existing civilian diplomatic programs [or even new ones, why does it matter?] will be empowered to the point of a strong presence not dissimilar to our current military.

Here's what I mean: Just as you said above, Sushi, US presence in foreign countries is instigation. And why shouldn't it be viewed as such? Military/civilian contractor occupation seems awfully ing rapacious to me and quite disrespectful of national borders as well. US soldiers are either stagnant or dying in Iraq right now - the regime defeated, only seditious idealism remaining to be fought. If what is happening could even be considered a 'war' at all, the war on terror is, as with the war on drugs, not one meant to be won. Troops are said to be 'peacekeepers', when really, they are there to carry guns and encourage order through sparse much more than fear. But there's plenty of non-violent positions and functions that military occupation brings about for the people - these functions could easily be served by non-military positions and factions and, personally, I believe that they should be. It seems to me that if you want something destroyed, you call in the military. If you're trying to rebuild a nation though, why are you doing the job with destroyers?

Of course the answer is because the current people in charge of such considerations are most likely not doing their best to rebuild, as slowly bleeding resources and corporate opportunities is far more of an immediate concern. Now if only that were to change...

God, you get your news from chain e-mails, don't you?

Near as I can tell, Obama delivered a speech back in July where he mentioned wanting to expand the Peace Corps by providing greater incentive for civilian diplomatic positions. Is that really so ing terrible? Never has he said he plans on making [para]military service compulsory for citizens. Drudge up a link from a credible source and I will rescind my comment - for that matter, drudge up a source for everything you quoted in your original post.

It's really quite healthy for citizens to question their government's every move - to be wary of encroachment and stand up for their rights when they are impeded upon for the sake of 'realistic progress'. But don't just make up.

I posted a second response. You obviously didn't read the entire thread.

The government/Homeland Security knows a load about me. They are getting ready to know even more. Seeing how my life is an open book to them I feel it's fair that I get to know them as well. I would pass a national security clearance because technically I already have. Can Obama say the same?

Unlike some people I didn't register to vote in September/October just so I could jump on the Obama bandwagon and vote for him blindly. I was registered before I was even 18. I've voted in five presidential elections and other various things in between. Every election I research the candidates and the issues. I research all the way from the presidential candidate to the judges to the people in my community running for small offices. I research everything on my sample ballot and I take it with me to the voting precinct. I will continue to research the new president-elect and his agenda (as he calls it on his new website). I'll be the first to admit when I'm not sure about something which is why I posted this thread here AND included a follow-up post.

Do I trust Obama? No

Maybe because they are all deployed in iraq he meant he needs more people to join?

I know, which is is why I pointed out, we already have a homeland "militia/defense" force. I don't think we're gonna have this civilian military.

Nowhere in this second response of yours have you provided a source. You refer to a speech, but which speech and where and when? It looks like you're just regurgitating you found on World Net Daily, and no, that's not a good thing.

Are you that lazy that you can't research on your own like I did?

As I stated before...I don't know what the hell he's talking about or if people are taking it out of context. I don't know if he's just asking people to volunteer to organizations that already exist or if he's implying that he would like to create a new one. I don't know if he's just trying to get people excited by all of his plans or if he actually meant something by what he said. I do know he likes to make up stories about his family. Do you need me to find those videos for you too or can you handle that yourself?

Here's your video. It's over 26 minutes. Enjoy. I don't know where in the video that he states everything because to be quite honest he annoys me too much for me to listen to it a second time.
