Girls! When you tell someone "You're the one" you don't mean it, do you!? (pg. 18)

Never again.

You'll never reach the point where you can confidently say you now understand women. Lots of them like to make themselves out to be simple, but they aren't. Realizing this is step 1, man.

Didn't you make that thread about eating and giving some dude a blowjob in order to a girl? :wtf:

Truth. We all get bored with what we have and what something else, that's human nature. So why do we strive for the fantasy of monogamy if we know it's a pipe dream in most -- and you know that most is true -- cases?

Serial monogamy is realistic. Life long monogamy is incredibly naive to aim for or ask for in another person. It’s not even that appealing to me as a man, because ideally, I want to mate with as many women as possible.

I don’t even want one girl, I just want to make sure that my girl is only mine when I’m with her. This is natural. If I manage to get a girl to spread her legs for me, I want to be sure that she’s mine and that I’m not competing with other dudes, because that means my genes aren’t spreading, even though I think they are.

I like the idea of providing for multiple women, I do not like the idea of any of my women having more than one partner: me.

Does anyone understand what I’m getting at?

Women want security in a partner in the sense that they want the good guys, the providers, to stick around. Sure, the bad boys are usually more attractive (security, fertility, excitement) and desirable, but that's more suited for one night stands and brief flings. Those guys are not father/provider material. Men want security in a partner in the sense that we want our women to be faithful to us. If I'm going stick around with a woman, or women, I need to know that I'm not wasting my time. Honestly, I would not be hurt if any woman left me, because I can get another one. I’d be hurt/angry if she stayed with me while fooling around with others because she's basically getting a free ride on my resources and I get nothing in return (offspring).

That's how it works, the way I see it. Even though society has changed, our underlying biology and intentions seem pretty fixed.

I’m posting this to share my thoughts on the matter, and to better understand things. As I think more and more about what’s happened, I have a clearer and deeper idea of why we do the things we do and what we really want from each other.

I feel like I’m making perfect sense, and that I’m getting closer and closer to that state of maturity where I know exactly what I want. Am I? Maybe, in the grand scheme of my life, this was meant to happen at one point. If it didn’t, I’d never reflect on certain aspects of my life and I wouldn’t learn these valuable lessons. This is all part of life, it’s just pointless getting worked up and agitated over it.

People are flawed, and coming to terms with that is better than trying to overcome it.

The problem is that men are the same way, are we not? We all have complexities beneath our deceptively simple surface. No one is as simple as they seem. Things would be too easy if that were the case, no?

Nope, and I’ve made a lot of ed up threads. That wasn’t mine. Probably elfreak. I don’t know. My threads are more bizarre than your pedestrian and uninspired example.

Nothing he said was necessarily incorrect, it's just that you're not going to have an easy time of convincing women of this, as many of them likely have an entirely different view. You're probably going to have to learn to be a bit more receptive of their feelings if you want to hold that any of them are worth keeping whatsoever.

Also, happens. Different people have different goals and the best thing you can do for yourself is accept that this is a way of getting along with others and hopefully keeping a bit of happiness for yourself.

What am I not getting, dude?

When I was 15, I had many ideas that I thought I was completely correct about, only to discover that I was absolutely wrong. I can now relate to the older people who told me that they went through what I was going to, and that I didn’t have it all figured out.

This time I can plainly understand the concept that I am probably wrong in my assumptions and that they will change in the future. I’m not a know it all; I make an effort to understand as much as possible. If I were a know it all, I wouldn’t be posting here, now would I? Would I?

At 15, I used to get so pissed off and ignore older people when they’d try to give me advice. Now, I get pissed off when people tell me I’m wrong without giving advice because I’m all ears.

Why are you so right and why am I so wrong? How old are you? Why don’t you dispute me instead of doing what you’re doing? You come across as having an elite attitude simply because you’re older. If you said something, I’d take that back, but as it stands, you suck.

And if we constantly go through this cycle of trashing our old ideas and going back to the drawing board, then how can we ever know anything?

Our opinions on things like love, money, work, art, sex, and life in general are like tools that govern our future behavior. It’s necessary to have some kind of mental model to live. We all have different mental models. I’ve yet to see a model that is completely right.

I don’t claim to be intelligent. I’m simply one of those people who tries to learn, explain, analyze ideas as vigorously as possible. That’s different from plain old intelligence. I’m just motivated when it comes to composing my thoughts and working in the realm of intellect. I don’t find it tedious or boring like other people. This doesn’t make me smarter than anyone, and I constantly repeat that because I mean it. I can’t stand it when I get accused of being a know it all.

I say a lot about things because I enjoy it, you get me?

Disclaimer: My thoughts on this matter are not universal, they do not apply to everyone.

It's already happened, I'm afraid. I laugh at your feeble attempt at an insult and request that you fellate me. Look at how stupid you (still) are.

It's not, and everyone is subject to change whether they realize it or not.
