| Paying out of your own pocket teaches you what money is all about. I urge people to pay themselves and not get loans. If you REALLY HAVE to get loans then be wise. I have a friend who works in financial aid and sees too many cases of people NOT being able to pay them back. |

Now, I mocked Arbiter but he's got a point: don't universities pay good students a "salary"? I'm going be paid quite a reasonable amount of money, starting next year, in grad school, because of my grades.
Doesn't your university offer a similar programme? |

They offer "emergency loans" which must be paid before the next semester, and they must be incrementally paid as soon as you get it. So if I get $3000 emergency loan, I must start paying $500 a month immediately. |

its not the government's responsibility to cover your education, if you want it be willing to go in debt for it. i did.
also, having everyone educated. if that were true who would pump our gas? or do any other things i hope to pay someone else to do for me. |

..but educated people can't pump gas? Maybe someone is working there TO pay for school? And what are you paying people to do that you can't or wont do yourself? |

I was among the top-3 students in the entrance exam at the linguistics department, for instance. The government offers scholarships to those students that do well so we can dedicate more of our time to studying/doing research.
I thought that was the norm around the world :conf: |

When did I ever say I needed a degree to own a business? My business is going to be in private equity. But who the hell do you know has ever started a private equity firm right out of their garage? Obviously, I'm going to have to work in the financial industry, getting clients, building relationships. |

i don't know about you guys, but i had work study to go along with my financial aid, scholarship, and federal and state grants. :conf:
and due to another part time job, i netted positive every semester. :) |
