Would be interesting to see if any collabs spawn from that idea.
On the topic at hand, I'd like to:
- Actually release a track (keep on talking with small-time labels but always back out for fear of their smalltimeness)
- Work on getting my sound quality/levels up where I want them to be without squashing my tracks too much.
- Complete more projects. |

Actually learn how to use Logic since I just got it and a Mac instead of being lazy and using my computer and Cubase/Ableton.
I know it isn't that difficult, but every time I open it and then try learning I close it after 15 minutes and start working on my PC. | ive had the same type off problem hence why i went for this comp |

+1990(to 1998)...I'm in.
I Won't turn this in to a 90's appreciation thread though (i'll do that on the 90's appreciation thread).
Zild and palm - just bite the bullet and do it. I originally had cubase on this imac and even though it has been such a pain to tear myself away from it, you just got to do it. I've probably had 6 proper attempts at switching over to Logic and always ended up going back to cubase....but Once you get past that learning curve of "of where's that function" or "how the do I do this, I know where it is in cubase" or "bollox what's the shortcut key for that" - it becomes a joy to use. Logic just works so well, and once you can use it fast, it makes total sense.
Something weird too - to familiarize myself with Logic, I exported/imported all the midi, vst patches and audio files from a current cubase project into logic.......without any FX and no messing with mixing levels.......IT SOUNDS BETTER IN LOGIC! I can't explain it. The individual (when solo'd or together) patches sound clearer and less gritty, I can hear more definition....the list goes on and there's no logical reason apart from maybe the summing in logic or that the plugins are coded better or they suit logic better.
Anyway tangents aside.....for next year....
1, Master Logic - become one with logic...feel Logic..be the logic.
2, Make a couple of truly lush, progressive tracks that get some decent air and club play.
3, Get proper monitor speakers and dump my minipods.
4, Get more music theory tuition (cos it currently sucks).
5, Get a better soundcard (motu or above please Santa!) |

| I know Logic is better, but that doesn't matter because everyone I want to work with uses it, so I'm forced to either way. When I get the money I'm going to pick up a Mac Pro, so I can keep my PC just for gaming and web/office stuff. |

| Hmmm...timely thread. I've been pondering my writing/producing (in)efficiency a lot lately and I've come to the conclusion that I need to start getting better at setting and achieving short-term goals and just generally get more organized. That was actually going to be my New Year's resolution for producing. I've been finding lately that I'm so over-committed with collaborations right now that it's starting to paralyze my workflow - sometimes I spend half of my limited production time just figuring out what I need to do, who's waiting for what, prioritizing, etc. The sad truth is that I'll probably need to cut back on my commitments and collabs, but, oh well... |

- Learn how to program synths better.
- Finally get to mastering my own tracks.
A lot to do, not so much time :-p |

My new years goals:
Never ever get another vst for as long as I live.
Learn how to make a kick drum I'm actually satisfied with. (its like OCD for me)
Get my core2duo, better screen, & learn how to use my new mercury goodies. |

| Actually finish something. Get really good at playing guitar. Learn more theory. Actually use my harware gear. |

I would like to
1/ master the technique of mixing without hands so that my hands can be in the air the whole time,
2/ master the art of seducing 18 year old groupies.
3/ Marry them
4/ change my name to tiest0r
But seriously would just like to clean up my vocal signal chain a bit with some new converters and pres, new mic, work on my vocal technique, play more guitar, keep writing lots of tracks etc... |

1) Complete more tracks
2) Make a proper techno tune (few attempts so far have been abandoned, always get stuck halfway through)
3)Improve overall sound and mixing |
