| Im sure hes bringing a good night to New York. He hasnt played a set like Crobar in a while, but who knows, April 4 2009 might be when he plays another epic set. im counting down the days, so it better be a night. |

I don't know man, ever since he became number one he hasn't impressed me as much. The last time he was really, really good was Tobacco Warehouse. I was starting to like him more than I like Tiesto, and Tiesto is absolutely my favorite. It was just that Tiesto was falling off a little bit back in 2006. But, now he's coming back really strong since Hammerstein, Webster Hall, and now Roseland. |

No doubt, Tiesto is my absolute favorite also and his recent shows have been awesome. But Im giving Armin a shot to prove himself the #1 DJ this Saturday. I know its not going to be an Armin Only type of thing, but Im sure he can pull off a great show. Yeah, his recent sets have been showing that hes been letting the #1 get to him, but Im still giving him a shot. The last thing I want to hear this Saturday is a two hour repeat of ASOT. Tiesto was in a similar situation not to far back, but Tiesto knows when he needs to play THE set to continue to be a Top DJ. Hammerstein and Roseland proved that. Now its Armins turn. |

which is what he is most likely going to play.. the dude couldn't bang it out for his life @ trance energy and ultra...so i doubt he is going to play anything diff for nyc

I'm coming up from Allentown/Philly area. Saw him live at halloween and had an awesome time dancing till the last track played. If you go, track me down on the dance floor and say hi. =) Usually I'm out there alone, once in awhile my friends pop in for a hour to dance, then get tired and disappear for several hours. I'm always easy to spot though.
By the way, just found these forums by mistake. The forums I frequent I usually catch heat when I make posts about trance events. Then again, it's filled with khandi kids. Why do I ever post on there? Because theres a very small trance community on there. =P I was searching for producing tips and stumbled upon here, so glad. Now I don't have to listen to a bunch of khandi kids ruining my threads. =) |

Yeah, thats what I like about Tiesto. He always brings a night to NYC. Thanks for the tracklist burak, I was about to look it up since those nights were just sick. No one should even think of missing the next Tiesto event in NYC. Im really hoping he or AreaEvent announces his NYC date soon, if Tiesto is coming.
If ASOT is all Armin is going to play, they shouldve marketed the event better. $55-60 dollars now to see Armin put a CD on and hear ASOT on full blast? haha. Even $45 to hear a radio show is pretty high. That makes a good point, the sets in both TE and Ultra were disappointing for the tiesto copycat, at festivals!. Lets hope Armin knows how to work the crowd just as Tiesto did on NYE. Ill give him a chance this Saturday, I just dont know what to expect anymore. |

i wasn't at Ultra or TE but i'm guessing he played a lot of stuff off of Armada and specifically Armind and/or ASOT labels and you can't blame him for it. I was reading a markus schulz interview in which he was asked how DJs avoid track repetition at big festivals and basically you have to stick to your own label - and this makes sense. i can see markus schulz getting pissed off with AvB playing markus schulz's remix of bittersweet nightshade an hour before his set.
my point is, i don't think armin's TE and Ultra sets should be compared to nyc gigs...similarly, you can't be comparing Tiesto's sets to armin's. there's a lot of tunes armin won't play because they're big on black hole, and vice versa for tiesto and armada. notice how tiesto rarely plays lost? armin similarly would never play a huge tune like lethal industry because it makes no sense (marketing-wise).

Its all good, I was a little harsh on Armin so ill take the proving part back, im just hoping for a great show, regardless of how much cheese he will play on saturday. I guess where I wanted to get to is that its just annoying when DJs come to NYC and treat NYC like its just another city and dont put the effort into their sets. |

but you're right that is annoying...i think that is changing though. i think the nyc crowd is gaining a reputation for being an honest and tough crowd. that may have a lot to do with the fact that unlike europe, trance does not dominate the local radio here and we're less influenced by the "charts". either way markus schulz used the nyc crowd to debut "the new world", and a couple of mr. pit tracks in jan, 2009. armin roadtested L.E.D There Be Light on halloween here...that coupled with the flurry of american producers and djs like eco, breakfast, element one, tom colontonio, randy boyer, markus schulz who are making it big, shows that the nyc scene is definitely picking up |
