c0r version: I'm going to Europe, gimme some in advice.
Alright, so last year I graduated high school and not knowing exactly what I wanted to do and wanting to party and travel and find myself, I decided to take some time off, save some money and go off to Europe next summer. Now I know this thread gets made pretty much every year, but I thought hey there's gotta be a bunch of people who have made the trip within the past year (since the last threads) and have a bunch of new experiences/tips/advice to share. So I'm saving as much money as I can from now until departure which should be sometime in june and the trip should last roughly 2 months. I'm going with 2 friends who aren't quite as interested as me in EDM, but I still bring them out to events and they have an awesome time and love the music, they just aren't the type to listen to technical aspects of a set or sit there ID'ing tracks. As of now I have 4000 canadian saved and still have roughly 6 months of saving up... so I could potentially have as much as 9ish grand.
So here's where you guys come in... Share with me your experiences, how long you stayed, where you stayed, your budget (relevant to your amount of partying of course). Just try and give me all the information possible. How expensive is your run of the mill there like how much would a meal cost you or how much are things like alcohol, drugs (quality? sketchy to obtain?), public transportation, your average hostel night, average hotel night? etc. How did you get around? I'm considering a 2 month rail pass which would give me 15 days of travel in and around europe for 800$ canadian which is just over 50$ per day of travel. I think that's pretty reasonable, but have also heard flights can come very cheap as well as buses (at the expense of comfort). Just give me everything you know :)
Now I've been doing some research as of late and there's just so ing much I want to see I'm not sure how to narrow it down. I would love to go to London, check out the clubs (MoS, Fabric etc) and party it up there. I have to go to Amsterdam for at least a festival or two. My friend also has family in Holland so we would be lodged and fed I imagine, making things extra sweet :). I have a cousin in Paris, also willing to lodge and feed etc but I just don't know if that city's worth it ... seems cliche to me and I feel like I've already seen all there is to see on TV you know? Anyways, I have to go to Berlin and check out the techno clubs (Berghain/Panoramabar, Watergate). Nature One will be a must and I really wanna go to Cocoon in Frankfurt as well as Auschwitz as my Grandpa was Polish and was in a concentration camp during WWII. Prague I've heard very nice things about, and I wouldn't mind going to Poland because it's where alot of my family comes from...
Now I would also love to go to Barcelona and maybe hit up Monegros Desert Festival. Of course Ibiza would be out of this ing world, but how possible is it to just make ibiza a quick stop without blowing half my bank account? Is it possible to just go for a few days on a budget? I know you can take a ferry from either barcelona or a coastal town nearby and I would really really love to check it out but at the same time I don't want to drain my bank account and take away from other things. Another place I've heard magnificent things about are the Greek islands... Now here's where I'm a little torn. Going from London to Barcelona to the Greek islands is alot of ground to cover... so I'll prolly have to book at least a couple flights to make that work. I just really want to hit up all these places but am having trouble deciding the best places to go financially and realistically speaking. Other places on my list include:
-Italy (I believe at least one of my friends really wants to go so might have to check that one out. for some reason I'm less drawn to italy...)
-Vienna
-Switzerland
-Copenhagen
-Bratislava
-Budapest
Obviously planning is still in the very early stages and any and all advice is welcome! Help a brotha out yo |

go to Prague, and go to a rasta flagged coffee shop across one of the main police stations and you'll smell that herb. and in its strip clubs its got some of the sexiest women in the world.
Barcelona is good fun, got hooked up with some nice hash by chance, made the beach really chillin.
i havent been in europe in a few years, dont really have much of a yearning to visit(amsterdam is an exception).
Well, I might check out Sweden but my uncle lives in a pretty small town looks like a recipe for fail...
here's to good times on your trip

Yea Berlin is meant to be awesome. I really need to go and spend some time there.
I would of course suggest the Adriatic coast, mainly Croatia. Check out the main coastal cities plus the islands.
Slovenia is a nice place to stay for 2-3 days in the middle of your trip. Very peaceful place and perfect for just chilling out for a few days.
Spain, while I've never been there, I've heard great things about the eastern coast such as Barcelona and the like.
Portugal is meant to be sweet as well.
Personally, for the 3 days I was there I actually liked London quite a bit too. Plenty to see and do in one of the most active cities in the world. |
