1. Thank God Bush is gone..
2. I give everyone another week to cry and blubber...i can only see beyonce cry so much..
3. Speaking of beyonce..i'm sick and tired of hollywood butting their noses into politics....i really don't give a if courtney cox arquette supports obama...
4. I heard someone on the radio say the following "i don't want to have to watch america's sacred cow blubbering behind obama on stage" ...i thought that was a very good name for oprah...:D
5. Yes, he didn't write the speech...credit should be given to the speech writer for sure...but..it also takes a special type of speaker to properly convey the written word..one couldn't shine without the other...we all know how stupid bush made his speech writers look..
6. This is a monumental moment in history..but people need to move forward from the race issue...we have had a long time to get used to the idea of a minority becoming president..it's time for him to start working....
7. Michelle Obama's yellow outfit was vomit inducing...
8. I was very optimistic a few months ago..but now i'm worried that obama is going to be a puppet..i really hope he doesn't disappoint the world and actually makes some decisions that are drastic....pulling the troops out of iraq would be a start..or at least an exit plan for the next 3-6 months..
all in all i was very happy that obama got elected but i'm kinda over it now..maybe it's not as big a deal for me as it is for other people..yes, he is a minority..but he is also an intelligent, well spoken, inspiring and charismatic leader..i notice those things about him before all else.....

I'm sure he'll do his best to tackle the mess Bush left behind, and I'm positive he has the best of intentions, however, realistically speaking...I'm sure he'll have boundries set for him by certain "puppeteers"...

There are a few ways of looking at this.
Not only was this a celebration of the first black president, but the first president after George W. Bush. The man ed the country hard, well not even their country but many other countries. The simple fact that Barack won on the votes of all races, shows this was not just about race, as it was about ushering in a person that people had more faith in.
This victory was amplified by the poor management of the country for the past eight years. No, there was no such fan fare for Bush, or Clinton's inauguration, just because the country was not in the sorry state it is in today.
If you are saying that 'who cares he is black, just another guy', what planet do you come from? Sure, we should be able to look past the colour of one's skin, and judge them on their merits as an individual, and their skills, but it does not happen as it should. Racial violence is still quite common in the United States, hell even blacks in Toronto have been racially profiled. For people who want to just live their lives, and be treated as regular people, and not by how much pigmentation they have in their skin, this is a concrete reminder that things are moving in the right direction.
Obama not only represents blacks, but a new breed of American citizen. One with a multinational, and multicultural background. He is from a single mother, and worked his way up. Up until now, it seemed as only power whites, with political backgrounds, and incredible wealth were able to finance a run for the presidency. No longer will people think you have to be wealthy. He raised most of his money online from a wide variety of sources, with regular people donating to his efforts. People can actually relate to the guy, that is the big deal.
Relatability is a huge factor here.
the thread should have ended after you wrote this. well put.

Several hours later he walked into the most famous office in America for the first time as president.
Gibbs, the press secretary, said in a statement that Obama spent 10 minutes alone and read a note left for him by Bush that was in an envelope marked "To: {nldr}44, From: {nldr}43."
