That's a horrible story. ...what do we make of this?
Sane people don't kill their family because of financial problems. I'm willing to entertain that they might kill themselves if their values are twisted, but you don't kill your family.
Should we take this story and just shake our heads? Or is there some kind of action we can take to prevent similar tragedies?
I think people commit heinous acts like this because the feel D I S C O N N E C T E D. We gotta try to reach out to everyone around us and help them feel at home in the world. Smile at people and interact. Takes a little courage, and a little practice, but I think it's something to strive for. If you feel disconnected from the world, I think you're much more likely to do something like this.
Obama should make a suggestion to the nation: once a month, at least, try to get out to your local trance club, or house music venue and jump around with strangers for a while. That's good medicine right there. |

I think you're being a little harsh, as he was being a little harsh with Obama.
If you're talking about the 'bailout money', Obama is committing to spending a lot more government money to help out a struggling economy. I'm a fiscal conservative, but I understand what Obama's thinking is. I also work in finance, and a lot of people I respect think that deficit spending is a necessary evil right now. And the huge price tag is in line with the severity of this recession/depression. Just go read about FDR's spending during the great depression. I don't see a lot of people calling for the government to spend less right now. |

What's sad is, i have personal friends that wont admit it but hate Obama because he's black. Even though they them self's are a minority, they hate on him.

Obama has nothing to do with the economy, Bush has nothing to do with the economy. Some might say that Clinton did had something to do with the economy. Either way, Obama isn't Jesus who's going to miraculously fix it.
The economy isn't the government's, more like the bank's, thereby the people's own doing. It's called credit. When you let just anyone use it, things get bad. People will be people and you might see effects such as this one. |
