Circus's sound system is capable of better things, but its going to take a knowledgable sound engineer get it up to par. Something the club has lacked for a while now. It really hasnt been the same in there since they broke down the wall in the main room.

However certain things can be blamed on the DJ's themselves, such as absurd highs and what not. Some DJ's dont know how to respect the redlines on a DJ mixer and think that louder = better.

Unfortunately this partially why circus doesn't bring out 1500 people every month (like it did this past weekend with Rank 1 + FunktionOne[sic]). I think Gene would be surprised at just how many people choose Vanguard because the sound system there is so much better, I'm sure it is at least a couple hundred people.

Of course I'm not one of those people and stuff like this costs money.

Who is the audio engineer for circus?

the openers need to learn when to turn up the volume.

if the room is empty there is NO. REASON. to max out the sound. it's too ing loud.

you need to only turn it up when there are people in the room (people are the best (or worst depending on how you look at it) insulator/dampener for sound, so when there are a lot of people it will sound quieter

most DJs dont have any audio engineering education or understanding :(

let's not blame the DJ's. Circus actually controls the sound, the DJ's are to just stay at there set levels. So, if it's too loud or something, that would fall on the production side of things at the venue 99% of the time.

When you are dj'ing, you are not aware of how it sounds in the room, you have monitors in your ears and headphones. That' why there there is a production crew at the venue.

I had a great night. First time seeing Rank 1 and I loved what I heard. The sound was much improved. They raised those two arrays flanking the stage and I think the go go boxes are bass bins. Was it Vanguard? No but it sounded pretty good and was more than adequate. Unlike most, I actually liked the light wall. Nice to see them putting some effort forth to improve the experience. Next up? Cryo! They use to have it way back when.

Only bad parts: I didn't win the $1000. At least the girl who won is a friend. The MC was WAY too loud. EVERYONE had there fingers in there ears during the raffle. Someone should have been paying attention. Same with the music in the loft. Could hardly order a drink.

Hope they keep it up. I've been having a lot of fun the past few months.
