Valentine's Day - What are you getting? (pg. 5)

V-day is the biggest manufactured B.S. holiday. How did it even come to be? It's basically just an excuse for girls to get some presents.... because we all know guys don't honestly care about this "holiday".
I already had to do something big for my girl's birthday on Dec. 8th, then on Christmas, than New Years (which I have no problem with), now our anniversary is this coming Saturday, then Valentines day a week later, and because she's Russian she is used to celebrating some mysterious "woman's day" thing on March 8th which is the equivalent of another Valentines day.

Sounds like your girl is a very high-maintenance materialist if she expects you to do "something big". Then again, Russian women tend to be that way.
Any 'event' in the US is an opportunity to capitalize and make money. Tax day coming up? Prepare for a barrage of tax software and analysts commercials. Valentine's day? Buy stuff to remind them you like them.
The worst thing is, some women really EXPECT you to buy crap for them for these events. Because it's "nice" or "cute". BLEH! |

Nah she's not that way... I wouldn't be with a materialist who expects . She is very appreciative. It's my own fault; I did exactly what I should have know better doing as a guy- I set the bar too high in the beginning and now I feel like if I don't do something great, I'll disappoint her. I'm going to have to methodically regress in the awesomeness until holidays/birthdays become more typical, so doing something actually great won't seem like the norm. |

Oh yeah, sounds familiar, I have done in the past this and now I learnt never again. Anyway, for this day I will just invite her in my home, buy some flowers, light the candles to make it more romantic, drink some red wine etc. Cliche but oh well, I know (or at least hope) it will be appreciated. She made both 14 and 15 free days from work so this brings a smile! :) |

ah international women's day, its on march 8th and actually celebrated around the world. since your chick is russian there is a sort of men's day like two weeks before. tell her you want something on the fatherland or whatever it's called day. |
