How is that an opinion? Think about it and it is true. Homophobes can't fathom homosexuality being okay in society. It is, to them, an abomination to what they have been taught their whole life. While, homosexuals don't understand why people are homophobic.

I wouldn't say that's true.

In a logical sense, not in a societal bull sense. They can't fathom, nor understand, the logic behind it. I don't either to be honest, but whatever. There is only so much you can do before the ball is in their court to change.

People are homophobic because of one or more of the following:

1. They think it's wrong because God says so.
2. They think it's unmanly or disgraceful for a man to do.
3. They find the thought of it personally disgusting.

That's about it usually.

Right, but from a logical pov, they make no sense.

It makes perfect sense from a logical point of view.

Gay people are advancing a different agenda than their own, and they see this as conflicting.

They find the idea of being gay abhorrent, but as long as they stay in the closet or they aren't asking for any rights, recognition, or media coverage, (basically staying off the radar), they wouldn't have to think about it.

However, with all the gay rights movements and whatnot, homophobes see gay people as trying to advance an alternate set of values that conflict with their own (how? I don't know).

dolphins are gay before they find a mate.. they actually practice on other males (assuming they are males)

Their first mistake is in thinking that there is one set of values that everyone ought to have.

What a boring world that would be!

I just find it irritating that you feel so threatened by someone's comments on your sexual orientation (enough to tell them you hope they get raped or something of that nature).

I don't feel threatened. I am the one that threatened the homophobe for saying gays should not adopt or popularize their viewpoint. The only thing irritating is that people like Boris_the_Bear still exist.

You acknowledge the idea that our society is in a time of transition- a shift towards potential acceptance of homosexuality. Are you ignorant of the fact that your sexual orientation (and its social implications) currently bothers a lot of people?

What's your point, that I should look down on homophobes like they are starving African children and spend my life as some sort of social worker trying to mend their idiotic ways of thinking? I have better things to do.

Oh yeah, and to mock your quote: are you ignorant to the fact that you bother me? Maybe you should think about that.

quote:
Whether or not you accept their opinion, you have to accept that change happens slowly. In the meantime, you can assert your sexuality in a manner that doesn't make you look like such a ing twat.

Yes, I acknowledge that change happens slowly in certain areas. Meanwhile, people aren't going to hide being gay because your theory that dictates they have to SLOWLY introduce their sexuality to the mainstream. I'm sure their goal isn't to gradually shift the minds of a culture I live in so homophobes can feel comfortable. Their goal is to feel comfortable about themselves and not give a about what others think.

Btw I'm not a twat, I'm a dick. And don't you forget it. Boobies.

Even my fag friends would say you've got some pieces missing.

Heterophobe :p

I'm not religious and I'm pretty low-brow in my comments. But you are a fake fag hag. Saying you have gay friends doesn't validate anything other than the fallacy that "gay friends = gay friendly." I had a straight friend who always went out to gay bars, but was strongly opposed to gay marriage and adoption. On the flip side, I hate faggots,...In fact, today at the gym I almost found a reason to agree with homophobes when some 45 year old fag walked into the gym with a t-shirt that said "White Boy." But I'm strongly pro gay marriage and adoption. Do you get it? Who you know doesn't necessarily say anything about your viewpoints about those people.

I just hate when people make a big deal of being gay.
If you're gay then you're gay. I don't see anything to defend.
Live your life, be gay and shut the up about it.

I just hate when people like you use some crappy reason to explain why gays should be tolerant of homophobes or be mindful of people who feel threatened by them, and then don't understand when gay people speak up against your crappy arguments.

You're right. I should have linked the rest of his quote.

:stongue:

Jake, just a quick FYI... suffrage means "the right to vote"... woen who fought for the right to vote were fighting to get suffrage, not to end it.
