Everyone gets made fun of in the changeroom in HS. It's part of growing up.

I remember when I played rugby I was embarrassed to get naked, only because I trimmed or shaved my pubes. Nobody else did and I didn't want them thinking I was some kind of sex freak or something, lol. Stupid hairy prudes. :o

Holy . If you are too immature to be in a public change room (you know why it's called a change room? It's for people to change in!!!), then you should either grow the hell up or stay at home. And stop hating on the elderly, ffs.

ps. women's change room for WEMF 06 was sketchy :nervous:

it's a part of growing up!!! Well, i'm glad i never had to go through that. Esp. as a young girl. Wouldn't u rather have AVOIDED that???

No. And be ignorant to the way that people are? Be overly sensitive? Any "negative" experiences I've had have only served to make me more well rounded as a person and facilitated my emotional/mental growth and development.

I agree with you that the negative experiences in life CAN make u a stronger and more well rounded. But girls esp. are very insecure, sensitive, and impressionable when they're young. That kind of teasing can be very damaging to ones budding self-esteem, or lack there-of. Some people can take stuff like that in stride and brush it off...but some people can be severely damaged by those situations in life. I am a very sensitive, sometimes overly emotional person...always have been (i'm a Cancer...lol)...so i guess i just don't take teasing lightly. If people NEVER made people feel insecure about their bodies, this thread probably wouldn't exist in the first place. We probably all WOULD be happy, secure, and not remotely grossed out or uncomfortable with other people being naked around us, and be more comfortable with our own naked bodies as well.

I'm glad I'm not irrational.

i was raised to always respect others, and treat others as u would want yourself to be treated.... i don't see how that is irrational.

and you people are too sensitive. i understand the spitting in the shower, or sitting down without using a towel, but are you really bothered by a few people walking around naked in a public shower??

So was I. But not understanding that people can be mean or hurtful is unrealistic. Learning to deal with those situations IS part of growing up. Developing your OWN positive inner dialogue that doesn't give a what other people think/say, and recognizes that other people's opinions don't actually change who you are unless you let it....that's rational.

Getting all "Oh boo hoo, someone made fun of me, I'm gonna take it all personal, wah wah!" and idealistically expecting that everyone is going to be "nice" all the time is plain retarded, and shows a misunderstanding of human nature.

The one thing in the thread I don't understand is...

How someone being naked in a change room is disrespectful. They are minding their own business and comfortable enough with themselves to be naked. Their being naked has nothing to do with you...

You being bothered is your own hang-up.

I get the luggy thing and towel piece when sharing common surfaces..

The rest just doesn't make any sense to me.

when I did sports in school, noone ever made fun of each other in changing rooms - is this just part of how "fantastic" high school experience is here? lol

of course it's unrealistic to think that people aren't going to be mean. But some people, as i said, have a hard time blocking that negativity out. It's great that u can, and i envy you for being able to do that. I walk away from negative situations when i can.....but in the case of people teasing ppl in a chageroom setting.....there's nowhere TO go, because u get teased if u DON'T shower with your classmates as well. In high school, if u try walk away from bullies etc....they will still seek u out! It def. is a lesson in learning to be confident, and not let it get to u..but again, that's easier said then done for some people.
