If they do change the name, IMO, try to come up with something without "love" or "fest" in it.
A friend of mine saw this post and thought of these.

The Electronica Dance Parade San Francisco (EDP SF) this one's kinda catchy, "Are you going to EDP this year?"
Also, IMO... I think leaving alone would be alright too. People from all walks of life come to experience this since its been running... |

It can't be Love Parade. there is a trademark on it. And trademarks are worldwide....at least within the countries in agreement...there are very few who aren't. SF was licensing the name, but had to stop using it after the main Love Parade got the corporate sponsor a few years ago adn a part of that agreement was not to license the name out anymore...
And all those names to vote on are pretty lame IMO.
It needs a catchy name if it's gonna be a long one. You have to be able to market it. None of those are. They might want to think outside the box for names and just deal with rebuilding the brand under a catchy name. Those names are anything but catchy.
Here's a couple semi-lame attempts... hehe :p
"SF MusicFest"
"SF DanceFest"
or how about "UNITY" ... what Loveparade is all about...
that's pretty lame too...I think lol.

While I don't oppose losing "Fest" or "Love" in the name, I'm sorry but all of those names sounds like the name of some kiddie rave to me, lol. And anything where "Gathering" is a big emphasis when it's this type of event might cause issues with "Global Gathering" in the UK. |

Dance MasSF USA
Dance Massive SF
San Francisco Electronic Dance Massive = SF EDM (that'd be nice to brand with a slogan like... "This is SF EDM")
San Francisco Love Party (without the Endless Summer of)
SF Luv Paraid... :tongue3 |

Can people stop recommend names that sound like rave names, hehe...
I really hope none of you work in marketting, lol.
Names with trick spellings like "MasSF" are difficult to market with the odd spell. Plus then you have to rely on people remembering how to spell it...
Not to mention that it sounds cheesy.... :)
Anyone who recommends anything with "Massive" in a mutliword should be banned...no offense V Man27. The afterparty could be considered a massive, but the daytime party...I would want to steer away from that angle if I was the organizers....plus, again, it just sounds cheesy. :p If it was just "massive" that couldl be catchy, but there's already an even called that in Europe (if it still exists) plus that wouldn't really work for the parade+festival.
BTW, I'm no expert at this stuff....but I did have to take some workshops for my old work in regards to naming shows & events. If you can think of something that's SIMPLE _and_ CATCHY, you have a better chance at success in marketing the name. That's not to say it can't be three or for words, but when doing that you don't want the name to be so elementary/basic...because that just makes the name easily forgettable.. |

I went off your Global Gathering rant... haha... i was bored at work overnight (in broadcasting, not marketing)... you think up something ground breaking at 4 am... :rolleyes:
wouldn't Simple & Catchy just mean naming it San Francisco Love _____(insert similar yet catchy word for Parade/Festival)since the word Love has already been accustomed to the party for years? |

I think Love Fest peps should make a deal wih Dr. Motto and call it "Love Parade" again. After all, it's about "Love" not money, trade marks, nor any of that capitalism bull .
In Santiago, Chile they have one very year and still call it "love Parade". The original producers from Berlin seem to be ok with it. |
