They should of have done the research, that's why this is the third time changing names....love fest la has always been the same event.Smaller event with mostly house lineup. If people are fooled than they are retarded. |

lovefest SF can probably put up a good legal argument but they probably don't have the money to fight it. they should try though... there are lots of community supportive lawyers that might do the work pro bono. if they haven't tried that already.
the term "lovefest" is actually trademarked by some totally unrelated company. lovefest SF could try to buy out that TM
technically, copyright and trademark owners are expected to make a reasonable effort to protect their names and must actively be using it. so as someone pointed out, goventures should have challenged lovefest SF years ago.
and technically goventures doesn't legally own the trademark (they only have it as "common law" since it's what they are known for... but only locally. so the case could be made that their name is only known in socal and that originally the events didn't compete. now, SF lovefest is still an SF-based event and it just happens to be more popular. |

I think it can be assured that no event planned in SF will have "San Fran" or "Frisco" in the name. |
