Where have all the full-on melodies gone? (pg. 4)

Oooh, a McProg thread!

As an avid fan and part-time DJ of "McProg" I can tell you that there's plenty of melodic (bleepy dreamy wooshy) tracks out there, but they're harder to find in the midst of fart house, ASOT tracks (most of which sound the same), minimal. A lot of good stuff was out in 2004-2005.

Some of my favorite labels include Bonzai Trance, Afterglow, Coldharbour, Coldharbour Red, Electronic Elements, Infra Progressive. Not very much activity lately, even the king of McProg, Markus, has been leaning towards the ASOT taste of things.

Couple of the oldies I'm recently in love with:

Subsphere - Beautitude
Quadran - No Air

As for the threadstarter, i think that there are still a lot of prog tracks with nice melodies produced and to tell you the truth most of them sound better than that mcprog period. Whilst im not in EDM today, i think that stuff by Mango, Claes Rosen,Eelke Kleijn, Joonas Hahmo, the stuff in Toes in the Sand label etc. are quite good melodic prog. Recently i got the cravings for some good melodic tracks myself and this guy/girl in Youtube called "OnlyProgHouse" has posted some (a lot actually) very good modern melodic progressive tracks. A few random ones i liked.

I wholeheartedly approve of this post.

OK, I must post too!

Jay Lumen - 1,000 Miles Drive (Original Mix)
(this one is a bit trancier)

Steve & Ben Alonzi - Wildfires (Jonathan Martin Remix)
(my favorite from 2008)

Fast Distance & Static Blue - Floating World (John Huijbers Remix)
(wouldn't say it's quite 'McProg', but it's very melodic; also the youtube version is pitched up)

And Vibrasphere - Autumn Lights has already been mentioned. Sick remix, that Oliver Prime one.
haaar, I've been on hiatus for too long, I need to get back into finding great tracks!

Oh, didn't know this thread was about McProg. Well, then...

Yeah, I still listen to it, still enjoy it when it gives me reason to, though I don't spend nearly as much time keeping track of it these days; nevertheless, it has a strong enough hit record with me such that I don't expect to ever completely give up on the style despite the nonsense it's responsible for.

That said, probably one of my favorite McProg tracks of all time, and I never quite grow tired of listening to it (sorry, only clip I could find, but most of us know what it sounds like by now):

You must be kidding, best Tilt tune of all times. Afterwards there wasnt anything I liked much by Tilt, but this tune is absolutely brilliant!!!!

It's not even the best Tilt tune on that album. Old Tilt tracks like I Dream or My Spirit piss all over it.

Isn't it sad that prog trance is so comprehensively dead we're getting nostalgic about the rightfully derided McProg sound?

I don't think they're even comparable really. They're from different Tilt "eras."

Each good in their own way imo.
