I'm calling it now, it's going to suck. It looks as though it's chalk-full of horribly overdone special effects and a storyline that lacks little to no substance whatsoever. The trailer I saw today that featured more of Harold from Harold & Kumar makes him look utterly cheesy and very out of place. The acting, at least in the trailers that I've seen, also seems to be really, really bland.
May God forgive J.J. Abrams if he s this up. |

Okay,
Stargate:
- Decent action scenes where people get shot, things explode and there's movement.
- Semi-believable science with a grounding in the real world.
- Average and somewhat cliche acting. Some decent funny lines on occasion.
- Cool alien races.
- Some hot women showing flesh every now and then.
Star Trek:
- Boring scenes which involve people who may as well be sitting in their lounge room yelling at the TV. "Fire phasers!", "Go to warp speed 6!"
- ty, ridiculous science. Why is it that when the engines get blown to pieces they can always be fixed from the control room?
- Horrible acting. The original series gets a break because of how old it is, but the new stuff is deplorable.
- ty aliens with plasticine stuck to their heads who really aren't that different to humans anyway. Borgs are gay.
- Weird looking bitches with about as much appeal as your own mum. |

star trek nerds always ruin everyone's good time.
SIMON PEGG as scotty. he could perform this on a toilet and be better than the entire movie| |

It's pretty amazing that people can already "know" the plot, acting and visuals of an entire movie from a bunch of clips in a handful of trailers. When was the last time a big-budget sci-fi action movie wasn't over-hyped by its trailer?
Completely dismissing just about anything based on shreds of real information and bias is retarded. If it comes out and blows everybody away either the naysayers are never heard from again or still bitch about stupid crap. Or, it does suck and they parade around like a prissy little ass.
But please, continue to talk about a movie no one has even seen. It is most entertaining. |

I'm not saying I'm going to like it or not. I just want to wait until I see it to pass judgment and it would be nice if other people would too. I'm a huge Star Trek nerd and I'll admit this is a major "reboot," but I like J. J. Abrams and I'd rather have a "different" Trek than none at all. I guess we'll find out soon enough. |

Well, they did what initially seemed impossible; they made Star Trek actually look cool, with this enhanced palatability perhaps irritating some of the more elitist strains of its fanbase.
That said, I will admit to never having much interest in anything relating to TOS, save for its relevance within overall Trek canon. On that note, I very much look forward to seeing this, but at the end of the day, it's -TNG-FTW-. |
