Sorry Stren, the surplus Soviet Era servers you have in Poland aren't capable of running these applications. Twitter's kind of like that crazy guy at the park with a load of in his pants that babbles a constant running commentary of everything going on... Facebook is like putting up a billboard of yourself in the hopes that people you deemed not important enough to continue associating with years ago will find it and care about all your ; also, you can see their billboards and laugh at how fat they got.

sounds like I'm not missing out

ok. but why can't the internet and socializing be a legitimate hobby.

that's how i like to spend my extra time. are you saying that posting on TA shouldn't be a legitimate way to spend extra time.

computers and internet are changing how young peoples brains work and not for the worst but for the better. people are able to multi task much more readily.

It is a completely legitimate way to spend time, but a hobby? I'm not sure you can classify socializing as a hobby. It is very important to build and maintain relationships no doubt, I am not arguing that at all.

What I am saying though is that people are completely devoting their time to socializing without developing them selves in other areas. I love TA, but it supports my hobby of collecting, listening and learning about music.

The internet is changing the way our brains work, but I really do not think it is for the better. We are getting too used to having everything at our finger tips, and no longer working for what we want. Why take the time to have coffee with a friend, and ask them directly how their day is going? Just find out via twitter. Why take time to research anything yourself, just go to wikipedia. Again, I am not saying these are not legitimate ways of getting what you want, but there needs to be a balance.

Please read this article. It gives a very good view point of what I am talking about.

Is Google Making Us Stupid?

I can feel it, too. Over the past few years I’ve had an uncomfortable sense that someone, or something, has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuitry, reprogramming the memory. My mind isn’t going—so far as I can tell—but it’s changing. I’m not thinking the way I used to think. I can feel it most strongly when I’m reading. Immersing myself in a book or a lengthy article used to be easy. My mind would get caught up in the narrative or the turns of the argument, and I’d spend hours strolling through long stretches of prose. That’s rarely the case anymore. Now my concentration often starts to drift after two or three pages. I get fidgety, lose the thread, begin looking for something else to do. I feel as if I’m always dragging my wayward brain back to the text. The deep reading that used to come naturally has become a struggle.

with facebook the way it is now, twitter is useless.

anything can be a hobby.

i definitely do not have any interest in gettin into twitter. Facebook is good enough for me. and even that is annoying enough.... plus i like forums better!

I really don't get twitter. Facebook does pretty much the same thing with their status options. Its just so..blah.

However, there are some humourous material on there...like this haha
