I hadn't heard that actually. Not bad.

As long as we're posting new stuff, I'm really digging this track from Kanye and my two favorite artists from 2008:

I like him and strongly dislike almost all mainstream rap/hip-hop, so that bodes well for him...shows he's doing something different

I'm kinda neutral on this one. I like Jay-Z but don't like Chris Martin's whiney beta-male voice at all, but he doesn't elaborate too much on here so it's ok.

Yeah, he's not really "mainstream" - I hate the Lil Jon/Rick Ross/Soulja Boy direction hip hop took in the last five years. But there are a lot of really good artists producing music still, and Lupe and Wale are probably my favorites among them.

Anyway, that said, I'm going to bed, because I've been drinking since 3. :)

Wow... nice. This guy is pure win. I definitely want to check out more of his stuff. Who wouldda thunk Lebez would get me excited about hip hop? :stongue:

Thought that would be the deciding matter-whether or not people liked Chris Martin's voice. I really like it, but can respect why others don't.

just too whiney for my taste I guess

It's a good point--I, perhaps unfortunately, have been branding hip-hop as falling in the Lil Jon/Rick Ross/Soulja Boy category without much thought or searching the past four or five years. It's good to bring up the good artists to attention--can be a really enjoyable genre to listen to.

EDIT:

I've always liked trip hop and stuff though. DJ Shadow's "Entroducing" got me into production before I'd heard of trance.

This one is a classic to me

Nice change of pace from:

I don't blame Soulja Boy; he's made a multi-million dollar empire by repeating like 4 words, and not even very well, at that.

It's the people who pay to hear those 4 words over and over that worry me.
