Also, because this guy is almost as good as Lupe but doesn't have anywhere near the profile, I'm gonna give another shout out to Wale. His Seinfeld mixtape last year was the sickest mixtape I've ever heard.

Intro:

And where he calls out Soulja Boy:

<3 good hip hop.

Lebez, you bring up Talib Kweli as a respectable hip-hop artist, but don't bring up Mos-Def? Are you not a fan of his work? Or were you just mentioning a couple names off the top of your head?

I personally think Mos-Def is one of the last few in the Hip-Hop scene that still has something respectable to contribute. I also think he's a pretty decent actor to boot.

a big +1 for Common. This is the track/video that got me into his sound, at the time I liked Kanye as well:

Mos Def IS important, but he honestly has been too concerned with acting and releasing rock albums ala 'the new danger'...

are you really fighting someone over this. i highly doubt someone can be into Talib without knowing who Mos is.

And i love common, but he is usually better as a highlight in a song. the few actually popular/fleshed out songs he has are annoying. the best common song imo is 'My Way Home' which is basically a one minute track on Kanye's Late Registration|

Definitely not trying to start an argument/fight, just was curious as to why he didn't throw Mos-Def's name out there as well. Thanks for the info on Mos, I haven't been following hip-hop that much recently, so wasn't too sure what he'd been up to.

well technically that was his 2004 album. he released his last Geffen album since then but is a bit MIA.

nothing since 2006, other than the justice remix i heard him on, and even that is likely old|
