What would you do if you had no Internet access for a year? (pg. 9)

Yeah, Lira went on break for a while. I think he's smart enough to not come out and say "I'm never coming back, TA!" because... ya know, that never happens. :p
I'm not sure if Jingles is serious or not... he left it ambiguous for a reason, of course. But I don't think his asceticism is going to pan out the way he wants it to... assuming he actually had some sort of goal with all of this.
Take care of yourself in the Army... you're far too intelligent and insightful for us to lose you to something as silly as the conflict of imagination which spurs men to take up arms. |
Haha thanks man. I hate it as well, i think that every sane greek male hates it (well, yeah, except for those baboons who like it for some twisted/sado-masochistic reason and eventually stay to do it as a life-time job) but unfortunately, its obligatory :(
I have a hope that because of my psychology degree, they'll eventually take me to the military health service, hoping to be in some-kind of office and perform psychometric tests, but i don't know for sure (the final papers will arrive within the next month). Even in that case, basic military training is essential, and for the first 1-2 month(s) or so i'll probably have to report to some desolate headquarters in the northern borders of the country in which that damn training will take place. I hope it'll be easy in the end. (i'm sure that those cookies and the lube will ease the pain :wtf: ) Wish me luck :p |

You manage a dangerous philosophy. I am not inclined to necessarily disagree with you, but most people aren't willing to accept what goes along with our status as mortal and insignifcant monkeys.
But don't you think that it's worth keeping some exempt from the pointless conflicts of our avarice? Of course there is no way to ensure this, but compulsory military service only perpetuates the platitudes of our existence.
Countless writers, artists, intellectuals and plain, good drinking buddies have lost their lives in wars that amount to absolutely nothing. The few who survive have a deeper understanding and experience with the depths to which the human condition can fluorish, as well as perish, and embark on creative endeavors to convey this. To say that war is necessary and inevitable is to speak of a basic truth. To justify it merely because it's our only reality, however, is to ignore the pleas for life of each and every soldier and casualty who has lived to tell the tale - not to mention the innumerable and squelched cries of those crushed beneath the ambitions of sanctimonious demagogues. Who knows what we've lost - who we've lost.
If there is any release from the course and the confines of our Reptialian development? If there is, it's certainly not in warmongering out of perceived imminence.
//Or perhaps that is the way, but nobody will be around to regret it. |
