Tutorial Videos From Highly Respected Producers
View this Thread in Original format

Perhaps we could get a sticky on this?

The topic is pretty self explanatory....

Post videos of tutorials from highly respected artists. Youtube, whatever. I'm assuming torrents are ok as long as the video wasn't sold for profits.

Here are some easy and obvious ones :)

Airbase tutorials - He is a big fan of Sylenth1 - He posts his videos here and I'm sure most have already seen them, but for those who havn't, I strongly recommend!

I hijacked this one from another thread....It is a Jofn 00 Flemming tutorial. It is 77 minutes long so get comfortable.

the first steve angello one, he mentions he puts his compressor on the master out at the start so he doesnt have to master it later, sure this has been debated many times on this forum ?

Many, many times on this and other forums. For what it is worth, I used to always mix and write with nothing on my master channel because I thought that's how you were supposed to do it. Recently I started writing with a mastering chain on my master bus and it has been probably the biggest breakthrough in my music in a LONG time. It takes me half the time to complete a track as it used to, and it sounds a whole lot better. To each his own, I guess.

I'll add them to the master list... er... eventually. ;)

I do check this forum from time to time but it's not like I'm a mod, and nobody bothers to fire off a message to me saying "hey these are good tutorials, put 'er on the list", so deal with my laziness. :p

Than what do you use on you mastering chain? Only thing I have on it is a limiter because send every sound to subgroups and do my mixing there.

My mastering chain is usually something like this:

UAD Cambridge > Sonalksis SV315 > UAD 1176LN > UAD Neve 88RS > PSP Vintage Warmer > PSP Saturation > Waves L1 Ultramaximizer

The trick is that each compressor is only compressing about 1 db MAX. Its just enough for each compressor to add its particular "colour" to the signal without squashing. Working this way i get that nice EDM "compressed" sound without things getting squashed to death. Sometimes I may switch a plugin or two out depending on the circumstances, or I hay change the order of the plugins, usually where the Neve 88RS or the VintageWarmer goes. I will sometimes put a UAD LA2A in there and take out the UAD 1176LN, for example.

The Ultramaximzer is there only to catch any short, random overs. It never gets past 2 db GR.

Keep in mind that I don't make full on trance, I make progressive house and tech house, so this signal chain works perfectly for me.
