witch leads me back nicely to my "lets talk about trance our pet sound".
i still think that trance is a very interesting genure from a production point of view. true it can be very simple to make but also its a genre that leaves open for more creativeness.
hence i believe why it's still going after all these years. |

Judging by your sample, it's no wonder you think that! |

cept no one who makes trance is creative.
its a 4/4 beat, a 4 or 8 bar chord progression in c major or a minor, and a 1 key bass that is based on the root note of each bar's chord, half of it is from vengeance packs, they all have intro-buildup-climax-breakdown-buildup-climax-outro formula, almost all of them use a stupid pvd pluck of some kind, 50% of it uses bongos, and most of the people that make it are incompetent musicians, nor are they able to make their own sounds...and this is just the pros....ive not described the amateur trance scene yet
that description fits 90% of trance today. this stuff is not even good enough to be called elevator music anymore |

Armin and Anjuna killed trance. :( | like you were saying before about different genres kinda ing things up but it's thanks to these cross overs why its still good to make and hear.
i mean i love tech trance and my work for the most part falls into that area.;)
but if i decide to branch out i can i find that in other genres lets say house only puts me into making one type of format, how boring unless you take things from other genres with is what often happens.
i often hear people that make trance put their mind to something else and end up coming up with something that has derived from trance but just made more interesting.
i need to stop talking and go and play in fl :D :D |

Now he and his fellow dutch men controls the whole ing trance scene. There is barely any successful trance DJ outside the Top 100 DJ list.
Trance is dying with cracked music tools, digital labels and thousands of tutorials about creating the same ing music.
Anyways, there is still alot of stuff you can do with trance, you just have to stop copying music and make your own .
And even if you do make your own stuff, no one is going to care unless Armin or his fellows plays it.
IMO if you want to make cool trance, wipe your head of any reference sound or track you might have and just go in there with blank page, use all sounds that sounds good without even thinking about genres at all. |

and if you so wished was applicable to all dance music.
i just think that with trance you can get away with so much more. on a music level at least. |

If you only listen to Trance, or one specific type of trance or EDM you are never able to create anything more than that.
So basically, listen to all EDM genres there is and find stuff you like about them, only if you can open yourself up to other genres and types of music, only then are you able to create something new.
Simply put, you can only create the music style you like. |

Anyone wanna jamsession with VSTunnel?
http://www.vstunnel.com/en/0,41,00.html
You put it on your master and connect to a session, and the master channels form all participants is synced up, in the free version you can't save, and the loop is limited to 1 minute long on low/medium quality...but you can use Edison or another program to record the master, and the quality is good enough.
Me and Cybernetika use it all the time, atleast 2 times a week for a couple hours. Its good for two to 3 people, any more and its kinda crowded.
Best of all, you can use any host. I can use cubase, cyber could use fl and someone could use ableton or logic for example, doesn't matter.
Anyways, if people want to session then hit me up crono_devir @ hotmail .com on windows live messenger [msn messenger]
I posted this because we are all talking about inspiration and doing new stuff, what better way than to jamsession?
I'll throw up some mp3s of our last jamsession. Its about 30 minutes of music [couple of hours making it, only the goodaprts saved :P] |
