IMO Tandem is much better because you actually free fall without your chute open. So what if you have someone strapped to you. Trust me thats the last thing on your mind when your falling. I paid an extra 100 bucks and they took me from 10000 feet to 15000 feet.
My buddy did a solo but you have to throw your parachute right when you leave the plane. Whats the point? If your going for experience then thats what you want to do. But if you are just going as a one time sort of thing I highly recommend a tandem.
Also, tandem requires far less training than a solo.
No point in sky diving if you can't enjoy the free fall lol
But you can go free fall/solo after 2 tandem dive's no? or is it different at every place

I am not 100% positive but I believe that it is 2 tandems. I fell for a good 25-30 seconds before the guy strapped to me tapped on my wrist to pull the rip cord. I didnt do it so he had to because I was to busy enjoying my fall :p
