I went last year and it was loads of fun, one of the high-lights of the year for sure.
For your first time, I'd 100% recommend going tandem - the best part is the initial jump/free-fall, and going Tandem you get a good 30 seconds of it before having to open your chute - and having someone else strapped to your back is the last thing on your mind.
I think I'm going to go again this summer, and will probably do tandem. If I was going to be doing it regularly I'd start working towards a solo-jump, but as a "Once a summer" type thing, I'd do tandem again.

JUMP FROM 102,080 FEET
I can watch the kittinger jump over and over and over again, his exit from the gondola was my desktop photo for the longest time.
You get to freefall right beside lake erie, it's so much better. They have one of the biggest skydiving planes in Ontario as well. Once your chute is open you can see niagara falls off in the distance too, it's pretty cool.
Also, you can't go completely solo like your thinking after only 2 jumps. There are steps you have to go through, and you will not be freefalling from 14,000ft after 2 tandem jumps lol, it's regulated. There is lots of on the ground training as well as lots of solo-assisted jumps before you actually go solo. It also takes time to get up to the higher altitudes in pure solo, once again, there are steps you have to follow.
If you're going for your first time, go Tandem 100%. You get to free fall for a good minute before the chute is pulled, then fly around with the chute open for another 4-5 minutes. It's the best bang for your buck and the best thrill.
Here's me back in 2006.

Man up. You have a better chance dying on the 401, so really its just the height thing, and beleive me you won't have a fear of heights when the day is over. You will never forget it for the rest of your life......
